Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force - PlayStation 4

A Game for New and Old Players Alike
I have played the original PS3 game a year ago. I enjoyed it thoroughly and is one of my favorite games of all time due to its unique nature. I would say it tends to be more light-hearted compared to most RPGs in general. I bought this game again because I heard about the new playable characters where I wished I could have played in the first game. When starting the game, near the opening scene, I already encountered a scene and a dungeon that I don't recall seeing when playing through the PS3 version of the game. I might have played through half the game so far and extra scenes seem to appear here and there, enough to keep my satisfied even though I already beat the original game. Graphics and the smoothness definitely has improved over the first game and it looks to have more configuration options available such as the control of music vs voice, unless I somehow didn't see that in the first game. Also, looks like Iffy(Idea Factory) released some free add-ons in the psn store such as lvl 999 dungeon and fairies. I am guessing the lvl limit break is already built in or they will release the limit break add-on later.I actually don't play the PS4 on the TV. I use my Vita to remote play so I won't need to be sitting/standing on one spot while playing. I hooked up wired Ethernet on the PS4 and the WiFi to my Vita. Everything runs smoothly without lag and in high def on a small portable screen. The sounds are great also. Its as though it runs natively on vita. However, since the vita lacks the L2 and R2 bottoms, you will have to use your fingers to touch the front screen top left corner for L2(for dashing or skipping scenes) and top right corner for R2. Front Bottom left corner is L3 and Front bottom right corner is R3. I have gotten used to the touch bottoms, so its no problem for me.This is one of the few RPGs that don't seem to get old even after beating the game. There are enough changes to warrant becoming Fang the hero again. Overall I recommended this game for new and old players alike.

Great if you love old school JRPGs
You can tell the developers were really going for a classic JRPG feel with this game. The story, towns, dungeons, monsters, and characters all have a very nostalgic feel. It's a ton of fun to play! There are also many DLC dungeons that you can add on (all free!) so I recommend getting those as they are great and provide wonderful challenges plus rewards.

Superb game in a familiar vein...
I stumbled upon this game while searching for other games with similar art/story/characters of the "Neptunia" series and found this one to be a likeness, but seperate- style and format but with endearing characters. The detail and voice work along with battles and character interaction provides hours of lovely fantasy-RPG fun. Highly recommended.

One of my favorite games!
Loved the game, all the DLC is fun too. I enjoyed the story from start to finish. Multi-scenario playthroughs were very interesting!

Fairy Fencer F is awesome.
Excellent game. It took me a long while to get into the FF series, i've never bothered getting the PS3 ver. I guess that's a good thing. I'm also quite familiar with the game since it has some things in common with the Neptunia series.

turnbased - fan service - anime - JRPG
let's start off by saying that if you own the original Fairy Fencer F for PS3; not much (if anything) has changed..... there's no real reason to own BOTH.That being said, if you haven't experienced Fairy Fencer - and you enjoyed the Neptunia ReBith series. This game is up your alley!Let's be honest; Compile Heart only really makes a couple types of games. This is a neptunia game with different characters. Same fighting system, same menu driven travel.the biggest downfall is that the quests and dungeons are base - and they get repetitive. However, the main story is completely engaging. The art is breathtaking, it's anime -and there's a lot of 2D fan service.Even though you are saving the world, the game manages to stay upbeat. Funny quips, amazing art work (not everything needs to be 3D) endearing characters, and the writing for this game is second to none. It's quirky and makes you laugh out loud at times. You fall in love with the characters as you rack up hours playing this endearing title.if the story and artwork is why your here, then you have picked the right game! highly recomended for JRPG / turn based fans!!!

Similar to Megadimension Neptunia vii
Played it on hard mode on my first blind playthrough so I could get the trophy, it is pretty hard. It is reminiscent of old school JRPGS where you actually had to grind to beat the game. In most JRPGS I wait until post game to start farming but I simply could not do that on this game. You would think having 6 party members would make the game easy but so many enemies have AOEs that it doesn't. All of the revive abilities and items have low range so you are punished by an AOE if you choose to get close to someone to revive them. The game is very similar to megadimension neptunia vii in nature, after all it is made by the same company. However, it differs in some regards. As stated earlier, it is harder at least while playing on hard mode. There are male characters. It is slightly more serious toned. There are more endings available. Instead of just farming for XP you also have to farm for WP to upgrade your weapon, abilities, skills, and combos. The English dub is actually pretty good and the game includes the Japanese instead of just as a free DLC like on Megadimension. World traveling is much simpler on Fairy Fencer F. One small thing they also improved on is jumping is no longer annoying. Many characters on Megadimension would repeat annoying phrases when they jumped but it doesn't do that on Fairy Fencer F.My first playthrough on hard mode took about 35 hours. However, the game has replay value because it has multiple unique endings and characters / fairies you can't unlock on your first playthrough.Overall, if you liked Megadimension Neptunia VII then I recommend you buy this game. Make sure to download all the free DLC because one of them is really good for farming.
