This has become a stable travel game for us. It requires two players and has a lot of little magnetic dots so it can get messy.

I was disappointed. I don't understand why they describe this as "code" anything.

The magnets aren’t strong enough and they get all over the place. I ended up throwing it out.

I played this game with my 7yr old son who really enjoyed it and wanted to play it over and over again. He likes being the code creator. The box is metal and nice and thin which is great for travel. It does not take up much space. The covers come apart and pop back together real easy.There are 6 different colored magnets to create multiple different codes. There are black and white rectangular magnets used to give the code cracker hints. The code creator places a white magnet if it is the correct color but in wrong position. A black magnet is placed for correct color in correct position. No magnet means that color is not in the code. It was a bit confusing using the little squares on the left side of the decoding table. We found it easier to just place the black and white pieces directly under the colored magnets. The magnets are not real strong but strong enough to stick to the board. I turned it over and shook the cover with magnets on it and they did not fall off. Another thing I liked is that after you remove the magnets from the holder and play the game you can pop the magnets back into the holder for easy storage. The holder is magnetic. Easy clean up and you know right away if you are missing any pieces.I would definitely use this for travel. Easily fits in your purse or bag.

Great toy if you want your kid to stop melting his/her brain away watching tv all day.

Ordered a handful of magnetic car games for the kids. This was the only one I ordered from Purple Cow brand. The case must have been bent or possibly its just a bad case. It doesn't stay closed which is probably why it was taped shut upon receiving it. The magnetic pieces had to be punched out from cardboard and quite a few came apart from the magnetic backing so aren't useable. Quality of this product doesn't even compare to that of the other magnetic games I ordered from a different company. I will not purchase from this brand again.

My husband and 6 yo son played this game at our dining room table and it was a bit of a miss. My son is extremely smart and loves brain games like this but this was a little beyond his capabilities. He couldn't remember how to put out the black and white pieces properly when he was the code master (or whatever it's called) and that made it nearly impossible for my husband to play. He also didn't quite grasp the meaning of the black and white pieces when he was the code breaker. My husband said that the magnets weren't quite strong enough for him to feel comfortable with our kids playing it in the car. We have played a similar non-magnetic game before and enjoyed it so we were excited for this, but our son just wasn't quite old enough for it.

I purchased the Purple Cow Magnetic Secret Code game because I wanted an engaging, travel friendly activity for my children to play when we are in the car for long periods of time and when we travel out of state. This strategy game was a huge hit. I loved teaching my children the rules and having them play along, trying to guess the secret code. They loved challenging each other to crack the code and it easily fits together when you are done playing. The pieces are all Magnetic and stick to the game board which is also the tin carrying case! It's slim and compact so it easily fits in my purse or seat pocket for traveling! I highly recommend this for kids and adults. It is perfect for traveling, waiting rooms, or just at home!
