Simplified Writing 101: Top Secrets for College Success

I have been trying to help my teenagers improve their writing skills, and this book is a hidden gem that will help tremendously!Full of great lessons. Each one written in a fun yet educational style that engages the reader. Chapters are short and to the point, driving home elements of grammar, style, sentence structure, and more (including the writing/editing process).Definitely not the style guides I remember from my high school & college days! I highly recommend this book for young writers, and an old one will learn a lot from it as well! Recomend.

What a delightful book this is to prepare students for college writing!The author writes in a friendly manner. She explains everything, starting with the difference between her conversational writing style in this book and the academic writing style used in college.I don't like to bore you because the author never does. But in case you would like to know what's included, she covers: word choice, sentences, paragraphs, punctuation, grammar, structure and form, revision, the final product, and even submitting and communicating with professors.As an English professor herself, she knows her stuff. But in addition to that, she knows how to present it in ways that are clear, positive, and actually enjoyable.

As one of Professor Brown Conroy's former students, I know Simplified Writing 101 transformed my writing. Prof. Brown Conroy taught me how to organize my ideas, think logically, and write coherently. I've read many books on writing, but hers pointed out specific flaws in my work and showed me how to improve when I had hit a writing plateau.Her approach to writing not only combines many of the suggestions I've heard in other places, but also adds completely new material. I got a lot of value out of this book. I am currently writing my first and some of the writing tricks items to watch out for were very helpful. It is broken down to simple, easy to read sections so if I want to find something specific to make a clarification then I can find it quickly. I like that it was simple, specific, easy to read and offered information I could use.
