It has fine performance, but doesn't last.
I bought it in September 2019. Now August 2021. It can easily overheat if you have heavy loading, like downloading or gaming. Now, it's having all kinds of problems and I expect it to go down soon. Very nice looking machine, but doesn't last.

2019 model - heavy but FANTASTIC! Has webcam kill switch (no more sticky notes)!
I am definitely NOT a computer literate. I got very lucky when I chose this one. It's a beautiful laptop. The weight probably comes from the DVD RW option but OKAY for me as this will not leave my house very often. I have worked on desktop computers for over 25 years and found it uncomfortable to use the smaller keyboards found on smaller laptops. This one is very easy to use. Love the backlit keys (especially at night when I Netflix Party with my grandson) and the keypad. The speakers are also nice. The fingerprint reader can be finicky at times. I have not yet tried to reset it but will to see if it improves. I bought this and a Fujitsu Scansnap ix1500 when I decided to go paperless. Both work well together. I don't use the touchpad much and instead opted for a wireless mouse which works very well with this laptop. I also purchased the Lamicall laptop stand which is very helpful as it provides more airspace under the laptop and is useful when placed on the bed for viewing during the Netflix Party movies! I don't think the battery lasts as long as advertised but right now it's used daily for hours during my paperless project. I almost bought the 13" size laptop but am very, very pleased with this 17" laptop and will purchase another (without DVD/RW option) when there is a sale.

Inability to handle minor everyday static discharge
I was initially super excited for this laptop. The Optane memory made for a lightning fast startup and operation, which I really liked. The screen looked great, good graphics and all. Overall it performed really well, exceeding my expectations. The appearance was great, you just overall need to be ready for the fact that it really is a pretty large laptop. The problems started 3 days in. I noticed several random crashes in sequence one day. After a bit, I discovered that the laptop was repeatedly crashing (full, instantaneous shutdown) because of a minor static discharge from my finger when I reached to touch it. I was wearing a sweater...not unusual. I live in a dry climate...static just happens. Most devices in my home, including another HP laptop with an aluminum casing like this, handle an every-day kind of static discharge like that just fine. In spite of being plugged in and properly grounded, this laptop couldn't take it. I've worked on computers off and on over the years and know the basics about managing static, especially when working with internal circuit components, but laptops tend to handle it just fine with normal interaction. After a couple hours working with support both from HP and Amazon, we determined it was a hardware defect in the design - something not properly insulated inside the case - and that a return would be best. Not sure if this is a widespread problem, but something to keep in mind if you live in a dry, cool area.

Very Strong Customer Laptop Support at Tech Warehouse!
For two years I have owned a laptop bought from Tech Warehouse. It is reliable, durable, and very portable. I connected to a school internet site last week and the wireless card stopped working. I gave up and plugged in an ethernet cable. After a week of having the ethernet cable stretched across the hallway and living room, I contacted Tech Warehouse tech support and received a return call within a day! The technician logged in to my laptop remotely, reloaded a driver, and fixed the wireless internet connection immediately! This company provides quality merchandise, and backs up your purchase completely. I would definitely buy from Tech Warehouse again.

CD Drive for the HP Envy 17.3 inch screen was inoperative
The CD drive provided for the HP Envy 17.3 inch computer was initially unable to interface with the computer. Physically you were able to install and remove a CD disk; however the software interface was NON existent. I was unable to download software programs from a CD disk.By contacting HP the problem was eliminated. Unfortunately in my haste I purchased, and to my chagrin, a software program for $150.
