Chatelaines - Utility to Glorious Extravagance

A resouce book worth much more than its cost !
My wife has wanted to buy Victorian Chatelaines since she discovered their existance--I have discouraged her because we simply didn't have the knowledge not to get taken...that changed with this peerless source of beauty and information---perhaps the most beautiful, well research and superior printing and binding in any book I have ever seen....it is expensive, but the "investment" is much less than making a mistake in purchasing just one fine piece of jewerly...a perfect Valentine Day gift !...the book itself is a collector's dream and an unconditional wife-pleaser.

chatelaines
Interesting book. I am into sewing things and was sad that more chatelaines from that line were not included. Great reference book.

Bountiful information - the best we've found.
This edition includes hundreds of photographs/illustrations/period advertisements/commentary, many in color. The photographs are excellent, the text extremely well done. With this enjoyable read, you will save yourself much research and hunting. We utilize it as a resource guide. Joy Melcher, editor-in-chief Civil War Lady Magazine.

Expensive but you pay for quality
Expensive but worth every penny. If this isn't the definitive works on the subject then by jove it's not far off it! This meaty tomb arrived in good time from the supplier, contains a myriad of colour examples and is richly illustrated with historical artefacts and records. If you have an interest in this subject you will this book to be the invaluable mortar that shores up any historical gaps you may have.It is difficult to sing it's praises enough Genevieve Cummin is meticulous in her research and grasp of this engaging subject matter.
