Excellent Product & A Great Experience!
I got this for my Mum for her birthday, she's always complaining that everything on TV is crap so now at least she has a wider range of films and TV shows to scan through and ON DEMAND! It'll take a bit for her to get used to it but she's enjoying it so far, she doesn't have a smart TV so she's never used any of the apps like Prime Video, Netflix, All4, iPlayer etc so it's a whole new world 😄 she has used YouTube from Facebook on her phone but nothing like full series and good films whenever she wants to watch them which is great, personally I couldn't live without streaming apps as I haven't watched regular TV in years.I've not had any experience with the Firestick as I use my PC and PS5 for all of my apps but even then, it was very simple to setup. I didn't run into any problems with the software or the hardware, everything worked really smoothly and the main router is right next to the living room TV so it has the fastest signal in the house 👌🏻The setup was very straightforward, plugged the stick into the HDMI port, plugged in the mains cable(TV's USB port doesn't have sufficient power for the Firestick but not a big deal!), selected the HDMI source and it immediately popped up 'FireTV'. The Firestick setup was very simple with only a couple of initial settings, we quickly linked her Amazon account with the onscreen code and she had a 30 day free trial of Prime available which was a time/money saver. After she had a snoop around at some of the films and shows on Prime, we set up her iPlayer which has all BBC channels and shows ready to go!The remote is great, she really likes the Alexa voice commands too which saves time on having to look through extensive lists, the four app buttons at the bottom make it very snappy to jump from one app to another without much effort. The remote is easy to use(for me) but I don't think it'll take long for my Mum to get the hang of it, it has a directional circle for navigation, center button to select, return button for previous screen, independent volume buttons, mute, pause, rewind, fast forward, home and options button. This is a great option for expanding your TV experience if you don't have a Smart TV, it has lots of apps, has the Alexa function, it's easy to use and setup while also being portable, so you can take your stick to someone else's house and watch from your account using their WiFi 👌🏻My mum loves it, she's really happy with it and has gotten used to now over the last few weeks but sometimes she still needs a hand. It's a fair price and very good product!

Ideal for my old non-smart TV
Our bedroom TV is a relatively old, flat screen wall-mounted TV which is 'not smart'. We use a digital aerial to get freeview channels but wanted a few more options. We are not that tech savvy so I did a little research before purchasing. The only HDMI port on my TV is to the rear so was aware that it would be difficult to plug the Firestick directly in to the TV. However I had a spare HDMI cable (both ends male HDMI connectors) which I plugged in to my TV. I then bought a cheap female HDMI adaptor (small connector with two female HDMI ports) and plugged the cable from my tv in to one of the female ports and the Firestick in to the other. I followed the really easy instructions that came with the Firestick and was able to get it connected to my WiFi and up and running in no time. Setting up the Firestick remote so that it can control the tv (volume etc) was fairly simple. The Firestick enables me to log in to my paid subscription services (Netflix and Prime) but also access free content such as All 4, You Tube, ITV Hub, BBC iPlayer etc. I had not previously been able to access these free or subscription services on the bedroom TV due to it being 'not smart'. The services will usually require you to register for an account but it does not cost for services such as ITV Hub, iPlayer, All 4 etc which are free (Netflix, Prime etc will require a subscription if you want to use them). The picture is really clear and the streaming works fine with my broadband. I can use the Firestick remote with voice control OK, though I tend to work with the buttons out of preference. The only thing that I cannot do using the Firestick remote is switch inputs so I still need to use my original TV remote when I wish to switch back to content from the digital aerial rather than watch content through the HDMI input (Firestick). This is not a problem as original remote still in good order - I have googled this issue and think it is to do with the age and set up of my TV so will not be an issue for some. Really pleased with the purchase and the additional options it provides for my old telly. Apologies for the long winded review - I just felt it might be useful to people like me who didn't really understand what a Firestick could do!
