The only reason you will need anything more expensive is if it offers more models.Range for me is 3 miles. That can fluctuate depending on where you are and what is in between you and the model. I have room for 3 models as I am using this on 8 helos, 2 airplanes, 2 gas cars, and a 250 Class racing drone. Fast response at the controls. Well written manual. Excellent support from online and the company. Looks great. Two features I love most? Dependability of signal with no antenna to break, and no back light to run down the battery. That last feature I've ran quite a few minutes longer than comparable ones with backlights.Airplanes: I have 2 starfoam WACO Bi-planes on electric motors with Futaba Servos and GPS centering systems. This TX is EXCELLENT to redefine endpoints. Couldn't imagine flying the cheaper planes without this feature. Planes are not my strong point, so couldn't tell you about high end aircraft.Helos: Hands down on the table, my arms locked, and looking you straight in the eye, this will more than handle any Helicopter on the market today. Even Aerobatic models.250 Class Quadcopters: Eachines, Custom Builts, Arris, and anything they use in DRL? This is more than enough for that. You could use this in the world championship races at Dubai.Gas powered cars: Far better response to steering over the TRAXXAS stock TX. You will be able to do better tricks in power slides, drifting, and brakes. Also upgrade your Servos to Futaba Servos and you will find new life in your TRAXXAS stuff.I use nothing but Futaba for controls because I went through years of frustration in the 80's without them. This TX is by far my favorite. It follows my K.I.S.S. policy too. ( Keep It Simple Stupid )
