Antisocial? Nah, just a great short intro to the hobby
This book was by far the best non-technical introduction I have seen to a world of activities in Ham Radio. It was concise, a little humorous, and explain a lot of concepts without over complicating them, and also provided many links to learn more. I expect that I'll be reading several more of Mr. Hall's books.

Interesting!
I got my HAM license a couple of years ago but really haven't done anything with it yet. This book outlines many other options I'd never heard of.

Great for new license holders or those considering expanding their participation
I read this because a friend who is considering getting into the hobby was reading it, and I was curious about the contents. I found it to be a quick and fun reminder of some of the options available that I'd forgotten about or neglected to consider. This is definitely a good read for anyone new to, or considering additional opportunities within, this hobby.

Excellent details on HAM radio
Liked the author's writing style; informative, engaging, and definately not boring. I skipped over the sections I am not interested in, but surprisingly, did little skipping. Well done!

we've been labeled.
I don't know if this book talks about digital modes like ft-8 but in case it does please keep in mind those are not considered "real radio" by 'traditionalists'.- happy ham.

Lacking Substance
I was motivated to buy the book based on the title and and the review rating. I'm quite interested in Amateur Radio, but not too keen on doing a lot of transmitting, so the title grabbed me. I was disappointed with the book and feel cheated. This book is basically an outline of things you can do in the Amateur Radio hobby, but lacking substance. Each topic is listed with just a brief description of it and occasional hyperlinks to webpages associated with the topic. I gave it two stars because minimally I gained some information of what I can do in the hobby... but to actually follow-through and do some of these things I'll need to look elsewhere. The book was a good idea, but should have been more completely developed. I wasted my money on this book.

For the individual that knows little about ham radio but wants to learn, here you go.
The approach in this book is ideal for one who knows little about ham radio but is willing to learn.

appalling waste of money.....
......for what could have been written as a list of pursuits on a single sheet of A5.Ought to have been called "Amateur Radio For People With Money To Burn".
