To rid the stainless of its inherent oxidation is a bit rigorous. I would look into Wood’s Strike Plating method. Good idea!

Q: Once this is used to plate a part, can the remaining solution be re-used? --- Replenished in some way? Poured back with the unused solution?

If you use nickel anodes and don't contaminate it, the solution can be used many times.
