Fantastic Remote
I have now purchased 2 of these Logitech Harmony 600's because I love them so much. They simply cannot be beat for the roughly $50-60 price. I highly recommend this remote control for anyone looking for a universal remote that "just works." These are great for anyone with 5 IR devices or less, who doesn't mind the black and white display. The web interface for the remote programming is very straight forward for basic set-up, and with both of my remotes it worked flawlessly from the get-go. It is also very easy to tweak the macros and buttons for each device and activity, should you desire. This means that macros can be altered to vary the command delays and command order. You can also change the layout of the extra functions on the LCD screen, as well as the commands available. If I absolutely had to come up with one negative with this remote, it would be that the macros are occasionally slow to run (5-10 seconds) through their commands. When the remote is running a macro, none of the buttons on the remote are active. This is a very minor complaint, but it is sometimes annoying when we are turning on the TV and cable box at night and the TV volume is still loud from earlier in the day. The disabled buttons mean that we cannot turn the volume down for the 5-10 seconds that the macro is running, despite the TV and cable box being on within 3-4 seconds. Nine times out of ten, this isn't an issue - unless we have just gotten our infant to sleep moments before, in the same room.

Promising but ultimately useless
Really easy to setup - I was able to setup my Panasonic TV, WD media player, Onkyo reciever and my Sky set top box without any hassle. The watch movie and watch TV macros are pretty cool. Thats the good part. After 6 months of usage I am frustrated with this and here is whya. The buttons are incredibly laggy and sometimes downright unresponsive.b. It sometimes loses the state of what happened. For instance if i used watch movie macro and after a few hours switch off using the power off command in the remote. After that if I click the Watch TV it tries to toggle the state of devices in the Watch movie (i.e. switches on the reciever and media player).c. Sometimes the device doesnt respond to the remote commands and then you have to click on help button in the harmony remote. The remote then goes into a mode where only one of 5-10 clicks activates the device command. All in all have gone back to using my individual remotes and counted this as a wasted $50.

1 remote to rule them all
Logitech has managed to take something complex and make it simple. I have an hdtv, dvd player, zvox audio, and directv. The dvd player I use for netflix & pandora streaming. So 4 remotes. Directv remote can be used for most of it, but it's lame. I use my dvd player to stream netflix/pandora, and every time I switch between directv and the player I have to switch inputs on the tv, as well as powerdown/powerup what I need.Enter the logitech 600. The setup wizard is awesome, and far better than I expected it to be. Entered in my model numbers, told it which ones I used for 'watching tv' and 'watching a movie' (which defaulted to the right equipment). Told it I wanted my sound going out my tv optical and into my zvox optical input. Told it which hdmi port the tv and dvd player were connected to and it just worked exactly like I expected.Go to the buttons screen to customize things because the zvox has dialog enhance, surround, and output leveling features I want to use. Very easy to drag and drop the zvox commands to buttons on the logitech.I initially overwrote buttons I don't normally use (like the 4 colored buttons and the actual numbers at the bottom) for these functions. But then I used the activity customization to add them to the screen on the remote instead, again, very easy to do. Just select the device, drag the commands into the add box, put them where you want them on the screen, and then rename them to something you'll remember. I think this is the best way to do it, as you can label things like 'output leveling', rather than try to remember you put that on the 0 button on the remote. It might mean having to scroll through a couple of screens to get to, but it's a small price to pay. So I have my audio commands on-screen, and the same setup for both the directv and my dvd player so I can get to them in either case exactly the same way..very cool indeed. Now it's just great. Hit 'watch tv' and everything turns on and the remote controls the directv box. Hit 'watch movie' and all the right stuff turns on/off and the remote controls the player. I've also added favorites, so now it's hit the ESPN button instead of going to the guide and scrolling or memorizing the channel number.Being able to have a sync on-line is great too, so if you change batteries or drop it and it resets you can easily restore it to where it was.If you've got technology challenged types in your house, it's well worth the money.

cool product but would not sync
the logitech harmony 650 was a good pricepoint for a backlit 6 device digital display remote control but unfortunately would never work. It came with no software or manual but did have a web address [...] to create an account and a USB cord. At the web site I put in the devices you were going to control, select activity sequences (like Watch TV or Watch Recorded Show etc) and then sync the remote to install the drivers and activities. Sync started but did not complete on my vista or windows 7 or Mac machines. I contacted tech support three times. They were helpful but their solutions did not work. AVS forum was very helpful in finding others with the same problem but the only solution that seemed to work for others was to NOT use [...] and use the stand alone software. It didn't come with my harmony 650 and I didn't have the time to hunt it down. Too bad.....I think the device has potential. Hope this helps you.

Does most of what I want, but slowly breaking...
With the exception of a couple of functions, it does what I want. What's missing? Some of the input sources for zone 2 of my surround system. They are there for zone 1 but not zone 2.Also, getting to the DVR stuff is a bit tricky. Need to use the "list" function.Otherwise it works perfectly.EDIT: 4/20/2015 - Some of the buttons just don't want to work some of the time. The # 3 is the worst. I have to press it really hard to get it to work. Then it sometimes sends two 3's. Ugh... Tough on batteries too.
