like most apartment dwellers, the railing spindles on my deck seem to be designed to prevent any type of clamp or other way to secure bird feeders or hanging planters.this unit is great. it holds fast to the spindles themselves...the hook is just angled enough and long enough to have a nice bird feeder or plant to hang from it. very strong. it could hold a heavy plant easily...but I use it for birds. Hasn't slipped or fallen off even in high 45mph winds on a third floor balcony.its pricey, but worth it to people like me who live in these apartments that discourage hanging things outside by getting these rails that are slippery, cheap and designed to not take standard c-clamps. worth the money.

These hangers saved summer. Every summer I hang eight flowering baskets from my porch. It's a thing and I wasn't about to stop just because I didn't have the right hangers. And that's coming from someone with zero assembly and repair abilities. They are very sturdy. I had large hanging baskets and they held them just fine. Even in the fierce Dakota winds.My only hope for next year is that they offer some that go above the railing instead of parallel to it. The flowers look much better that way, but in a pinch these were perfect.If you do have a problem with the hanger falling from the weight, it's very likely that you have it screwed on too tight. Simply loosen it a hair and you'll have fixed the problem.

I bought 2 of these hooks! After receiving the first one, I was very happy with the sturdiness, durability and ease of set up. The only reason for 4 stars is that the hook needs to be looped a little more. Squirrels were able to jump to our balcony, and knock off both of our bird feeders.They have been on our balcony in sunny south Florida for over a year, now without anything hanging from them since the attack of the squirrels, they have not rusted, tarnished or shown any sign of age.
