Just what I was looking for.
Read mixed reviews on all the top Xbox media remotes and took a chance on this one. Don't regret it. For me, the button layout and size are perfect. Back-lit buttons are not too bright and easy to see. However it is very sensitive and the slightest movement turns them on (which might explain why it went through the first set of batteries that it came with so fast? Or they're just cheap batteries..). When the batteries start to drain the Back-lighting didn't seem to come on until a button was pressed. I appreciate that Indicator. Set up was SUPER EASY! I just followed the onscreen prompts and within a couple mins it was set.My Xbox oneX is HDMI'd to my fancy pants Yamaha AV receiver then to my older (2016) Samsung TV. After set up, turning on Xbox with this remote instantly turns on the receiver and TV at the same time and controls the volume aswell as all the Xbox menu's/functions.All buttons work perfectly for the streaming apps I use. (Netflix,Hulu,Prime, Disney+) On occasion I have had to press a button twice, but not often (which doesn't bother me when compared to convenience). As for the whole IR/RF deal,.. of course RF would always be preferred! But I've had no issues at all with having to aim exactly at the Xbox. I sit about 12'-13' away and point it in the generally direction. However, out of curiosity I pointed the remote in every direction possible (up,down, left, right, and behind) and to my surprise it still controlled my Xbox and AV receiver! It does appear to have two IR diodes (instead of a single one like most other remotes), so maybe that helps..?? It does still need some sort of "line-of-sight" as it does not work from under a blanket. So I'm not sure as to the reason why others are seeming to have a problem with it??I've had it about a month now and have used it every day with no issues.Only cons I have are that the Xbox power/menu button at the top is not back-lit as it's just a rounded sticker. (I think that's weird) but the texture/shape/location of it makes it easy to find/use. All other buttons are smooth and the directional ones have tiny dots that really can't be felt. The back-lighting only stays on for about 4 seconds (wish it was longer). And like previously stated, it will most likely go through batteries fast. Different color options would be cool. All in all, I'm personally super happy with it as it does exactly what I wanted it for. Using a regular controller was a pain in the ass for streaming.

Remote control for your Xbox X series s
The 8bitdo media remote. The remote control only works for the Xbox. Its does all the features as turn it on and off. Control your games and media and as well help stream your movies with rewind and fast forward. This remote will not control your TV with power or volume. With all new Xbox's, theX series X or S, Microsoft has changed the settings for you box. For this remote to work with TV, you must now have HDMI-CEC. I have an older flat screen. I think if you have a newer flat TV this remote should be able to control your TV settings. In my opinion this remote is OK but not the best one. For the price I paid for it. It's OK for what I need.

Great remote, one major caveat
Written for Xbox One. This is a great remote with one caveat. In order to control your TV and A/V receiver, you need either the Kinect system or an IR blaster plugged into the IR out port. Otherwise it will not control your TV or A/V receiver. The remote it's self is great, feels awesome and works as expected. It does require line of sight which can be a PITA, but it is a great compliment for anyone wanting to use their Xbox as their primary streaming box.

Works great
This Xbox media remote works great! It works on all Xboxs Xbox on and series X/S, great price free shipping, and the remote lights up when you touch it, its great, oh and you dont have to sync it up or do anything but insert the batteries and its ready to go, everyone needs this who wants to get out the gaming controller every time i watch a movie on xbox and this remote is Officially licensed by Microsoft Xbox brand it automatically connects to the interface and finaly the size its great little remote you dont need the fullsized one , the buttons feel strudy and soild as well. P.S in order for the Volume controls to work you have to inacle the HDMI-CEC feature in your Tv's settings, i already had mine on because of the Soundbar i have installed so make soure you switch it on, if you have an old tv it might not have it at all also.

Terrible reliability and Ok battery life
I’ve owned this remote since early 2022 and, so far, it’s been my least favorite 8bitdo product. This remote is very picky about where you aim, how you aim, and how far you are from the Xbox. I realize this is an IR remote, but this is the most unreliable and finicky remote I’ve ever used. As of today, the remote now barely functions at all with the Xbox only picking up every fifth button press, even after replacing the batteries. Speaking of batteries, the battery life for this remote is pretty bad. Not the worst I’ve experienced, certainly. When the remote functioned, the batteries lasted for about a month at best. All in all, I really wanted to like this remote as I’ve had great experiences with 8bitdo’s other controllers. However, this is unfortunately one to avoid.

Doesn't last
I purchased this in August of 22 and it died without any kind of fall/drop in face it still looks brand new it just doesn't work anymore. It worked fine but I can't recommend something that only lasts a little over a year.

Nice little remote for Xbox Series X
It just works with Xbox Series X without requiring any setup. One minor downside is that it's IR, so requires line of sight to the console to work, but then that's exactly what enables it to work out of the box without setup. Just FYI, it does not work with Xbox 360 though. Will likely work with Xbox One, but haven't verified that personally.
