Be Careful with the screws
Not bad, looks nice after putting it on my switch.. unfortunately one screw hole was damaged so some parts were wriggling inside.. had to put back my original right joy con back cover.. so now my switch is all pink except for my right joy con Which has the original red color on the back..

Amazing. Except for screwdrivers
Everything was great. Feels good and looks nice. Except the screwdrivers. It will surely strip the Y screws. Buy your own screwdrivers guys.

So boujeee
I love it! Got mines on today, it’s a lot of work so you need to be careful! Better to get your own precision tools because the tools that comes with this is not that good. Make sure you have some tweezers too to hold the springs in place and requires alot of patience. But the results are worth it.

The most powerful plastic known to man
I bought this as a base to paint for my girlfriends switch as she wanted cute colours for her controllers and backplate. Basically I had to sell my soul, do several complicated rituals and spells, sacrifice the soul of a baby goat and pilgrimage to the top of a mountain to be blessed by a monk before I could get the paint to take. The material would self heal, and reject the paint. So any sanding, any paint type- the blood of the lord himself was rejected by the plastic. So if you’re worried that the “white will get dirty over time”, don’t. This plastic alone has the power of the awakened master sword- it just keeps coming back.Comes with all the screws and a screwdriver too, cute packaging so I can gift wrap it. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

DO NOT USE THE INCLUDED TOOLS. Cool idea though.
So to begin with, this is a seriously cool product. It's a nerd's dream to see all the inner workings of things, and this kit pushes all the right buttons. The fit is absolutely fine. No issues there. It's worth noting that the kick "stand" supplied doesn't have rubber on it, so bear that in mind, although even Nintendo's "stand" is next to worthless straight out the box, so I have no opinion on it.Just learn from my mistake and only take out the centre screw on the JoyCon rails. That's all you need to take out to remove the backplate, other than the obvious screws on the rear.I cannot fault them for ease of installation. Nintendo makes a seriously difficult product to disassemble. That said, there were no instructions that I could see. Luckily, the internet is your friend, so it's a moot point. It's a fault of the material that the screws are seriously easy to strip any threads out of the plastic, so just be careful when assembling. If you feel tension draw up, stop. That's all the more you need. This has not impacted my scoring of the product, as everything's a trade-off. You want see-through plastic, you may have to sacrifice some durability. They supply their own screws in PH0, so you can throw Nintendo's idiotic Y screws away and repair your own gear with non-proprietary parts. BIG plus.However. I urge you to immediately throw the "screwdrivers" provided into a furnace to remove them from the gene-pool. They are only worth their weight in scrap metal. They WILL round off your screws, both Y and PH no matter what tricks you pull, and believe me; Nintendo screws their kit in TIGHT. You WILL round the screws and you WILL have a bad day. Just trust me on that. And that's the real failing of this kit. It's a fantastic idea with some expected trade-offs, but the "tools" they provide are actively going to ruin your day. And for that, I will recommend this kit, but only if you A: know how to use a search engine and B: have the right bits from a trusted tool manufacturer. If you don't, I highly recommend you acquire some. Your sanity will thank you.

Pretty cool looking
As recommended by other reviewers, I discarded the tools and instructions provided and instead used the iFixit kit I already had (no affiliation) and their instructions. It was extremely fiddly and took several hours, but once I got the left joycon done (probably you should do that one first too) I was in the swing of it and was able to do the right joycon a lot faster. The most difficult thing about the backplate was finding the screws, though protip on that one - the joycons use PH00 but the switch itself uses J000 which looks like a PH00 but absolutely isn't, so save yourself some trouble there.I ended up using the original buttons rather than the clear replacements it came with (plus a coloured button pack from the same seller) because IMO they look better, but that's an aesthetic choice. All in all I probably would have saved money and not bought the clear backplate since there's not very much to see through it, but it looks good together so I can't complain.

Excellent switch shell
Very nice product, looks impressive as purple when you look at it in one direction and blue when in another. Surface is glossy but it doesn't attract fingerprints from what I notice, but could lose grip if you get sweaty like me :). Reason right joycon has black buttons is I forgot to put purple buttons in and didn't want to take right joycon apart as the right joycon is a lot more fiddly than the left - I ended up accidentally ripping the ribon cable on the vibration part, so had to use a different joycon, luckily the joycon I broke had been donated to me by a friend as the thumbstick drifted.I don't have any experience really in doing electronics or anything and I managed to do it, so I say have a go. But only if you don't mind possibly risking a joycon. The back plate is easy - but make sure to use the extra screws provided as I found that the phillips screws were a lot easier to take out again without accidentally stripping them (which i ended up doing to a screw near the sd card and having to use pliers to get it out).

High quality mod-job kit!
The switch is passing down from our 13.5 year old boy to our 4.5 year old girl for Xmas. He didn’t look after it too well and had a lot of scratches and his left joy con was drifting, the joy cons also weren’t securing to the switch as strong as they used to. Came across ExtremeRate products on Amazon and realised I would be able to do a complete re-shelling and fix up of the console to make it more girly too.I have little to no experience when it comes to things like this but I have never been too afraid to open things up and give things a try.First of all, I replaced the drifting joy stick, then I swapped out the plastic clips for metal ones before starting on re-shelling the joy cons themselves. It look a little bit of examining and playing about to figure out how it comes apart and goes back together, but it was not overly complex. The came the big job, the console itself. The new case came with a back shell but no front so I opted for white front shell to contrast the rear shell and component some of the white features of the new shell. I initially took apart the entire console, but for bit, mapping out the screws as I went along. I ensured I was meticulous and slow. After doing that I realised that I could have just separated the digitiser screen from the front shell to expose the screws and not dismantled it all.I made I few little mistakes putting it back together, nothing too worrying, so ending up closing and re-opening the console a few times but after some persistence and care I got there. The trickiest part was removing the digitiser, it’s pretty well stuck down and I also didn’t use heat to soften it up but I was gentle and careful.I think the end results speak for itself. It looks amazing and has added a whole new life to a 4 year old console. The warranty is long gone so there was no risk of losing that anyway. The replacement parts are all high quality, even down to the tiniest of screws.I have now ordered some Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut to top up the thermal paste on the heat sink (as it was starting to look a little dried up) just to be sure and keep the console as cool as possible, so one more open up and job done in time for Xmas.Would highly recommend these products! If I can do it, you can too.
