I'm thinking Daiwa BG 5000 with 40# braid and 40# fluoro leader for gulf offshore kayak fishing. anyone use this combo or have any advice?

I have a BG 5000 on a tiger 7 foot heavy. I have caught in some awful big fish with it. The combination is unbeatable for Bridge Fishing for big snook or gag grouper. Has plenty of backbone

I have never heard of using a spinning rod for crabbing, but if you must, the rod should be strong enough for the task.
