Focal - Aria 905 (Black)

These speakers are wall mounted in the corner of a room, so I was looking for sealed or front ported small bookshelf speakers. I have a pair of Focal 807v speakers and love them, so I went the the Focal Aria 905. And they have exceeded my expectations! The highs and mid ranges are crisp and clear, and I'm pleasantly surprised by receiving more on the low end than I had anticipated. These speakers have a great soundstage, and are not quite as bright as the Focal 807v .I broke these speakers in with an Onkyo preamp and Outlaw Audio amp, and am currently driving them with a Nakamichi AV-1 plus equalizer. So they have being driven with plenty of good clean power. The break in system also had an SVS subwoofer, and wow, the result was incredible!These speakers stand on their own, and driven properly sound stunning. However, add in a good subwoofer and it's icing on the cake!

Purchased to pair with a system in my bedroom. Out the box they are a bit muffled, but after about three hours they open up nicely. The 905's should be paired with a decent subwoofer to round out the sound, however they have decent low end capabilities, and would work fine without a sub. I recommend good speaker cable and interconnects. I use them with a two channel setup. They sound wonderful with tubes and vinyl. You get a little bit brighter sound with a solid state amp. They reveal the best of a recoding and sometimes the worst parts if the recording has flaws. At the present price they are a true audiophile bargain. Made in France, and I am told Focal makes all speaker components in house. Jazz, classical and voices shine thru these speakers.

Best speakers I've owned so far. The fit and finish is of very high quality. The sound is crystal clear, a little bright and harsh out of the box but warms up and smooths out after a few hours of listening. High quality recordings and equipment will make these babies sing!Highly recommend!
