Q: What is the difference between freeze dried raw and “coated”?

What I’ve learned: ..Freeze-dried foods preserve nutrition best (no heating during processing); next is plain dried (commercially, may reach heat of near 200*F.). Last is canned. ..”sprayed-on” nutrients & flavors are done to add-back nutrients (like taurine) that are damaged if processing the food included temperatures higher than living mammal body temperature. ..like for feeding humans, if a creature is not introduced successfully to foods as a baby, to teach their tastebuds, they likely will not eat “strange” foods, but will choose even bad foods not good for them, because of what their baby tastebuds learned to like. ..cat foods seem to have too-high magnesium (often listed as “ash” in nutrition profile), too crunchy, & too low on taurine; too high in Omega 6 oils, too low on Omega 3 oils (this has also been a big problem in human food oils). ..there is no single pet food that some pets will stick with, especially cats. Our current cat dives right into some foods, but then starts turning up his nose at them days, or weeks later…& we must search again. ..Cats don’t normally crunch hard food; modern pet food makers invented crunchy kibble; if pet has oral/dental issues, crunchy kibble hurts more. ..Now, we must look out for rancidity in pet foods, same as for human foods.
