A bit redudant
I consult with educators and have for roughly 20 years but my interest in this book was pure curiosity. How could nursery rhymes help teach reading and writing? It sounded interesting in part because I adored nursery rhymes as a child. Now for the book - this is absolutely packed full of interactive examples and clear explanations - however, it quickly becomes a bit redundant as the formula is used over and over with 50 different nursery rhymes. While it is nice to see each individual rhyme in detail, it also becomes a bit boring. Additionally, I have some question as to how well younger children would be able to fully grasp some of the concepts given their limited vocabulary and spelling. Overall this is a fun addition with a few considerations that can be easily customized for use in your own class.

A great creative way to introduce young children to concepts of analysis and writing
This guide presents a creative approach to writing and literary thinking for Preschoolers and Kindergarteners. It takes Nursery Rhymes, some of which I had not heard before, and makes them into fun brainstorming sessions and writing starts. Each Nursery Rhyme is accompanied by helpful examples of their own experiences with their use of these in their classrooms, which was really helpful as I prepared lessons! In some ways, the book could be seen as repetitive, because the same base model is used for each text. But, personally, I found the insights and examples of their classroom application of these texts to be very valuable.

Helpful
This has been a helpful book, it is a good way to teach a young child writing by using something familiar to them. I have taken some parts and changed them to suit my needs but for the most part it is a good solid book.
