Coat of Many Colors

My grandaughter was feeling a bit down since her dad was going to visit but called to say he couldn't make it so I had to cheer her up buy telling her I got her a special book ..we talked about the lady name Dolly who wrote the book about when she was just a young girl in school and how they didn't have alot of $ but they had alot of love and how her mom made her this coat of many colors and her experiences wearing the coat to schoolShe suddenly bc excited and not as sad about her dad not making it that day and we spoke about Dolly Parton the lady who sings the song about that coat of many colors her mama made for her ..my sweet little grandaughter who won't be 6 foot a few mos read me that whole entire book I was so impressed and of coarse I got her the CD so she could hear the song about the book Dolly wrote ..and that CD with coat of many cord also has the song Jolen and that's my granddaughters fab song

This book is beautifully illustrated to the lyrics of Coat if Many Colors. I bought this along with the dvd of the movie as a gift to my granddaughters. They loved it!

This is a beautifully illustrated book that tells Dolly Parton's story of her famous colorful coat! The story is simply lyrics from her song. I don't have children, but Dolly Parton is one of my favorite artists of all time, so I had to purchase her book! The pictures are sweet and endearing and I really think it would make a great gift, not only for a child, but any adult that is a fan. I would purchase this again and million times over!

Such a sweet book based on the song. My 8 year old loved it—and it’s a good lesson both for kids who are fortunate enough to be able to take things for granted but need to learn empathy and generosity.

Wonderful book! It is simply the lyrics to "Coat of Many Colors" put together with illustration from the movie. The illustrations are wonderful. I gave this to my niece and nephew for Christmas and they enjoyed it. I am hoping that they will get many, many years of enjoyment from the book. Most importantly, I hope they are able to learn a wonderful life lesson from the moral of the book. Dolly is amazing and her story is too.

If I could give this book more stars I would! I believe that this speaks both our differences and our similarities. So important for children & adults 🙂

Who doesn't love Dolly Parton!!! Her Coat of Many Colors song has always been a favorite. Brooke Boyton Hughes' illustrations really brought it to life. You can tell Brooke draws with much love and caring behind each of her characters - the people, the buildings, the landscape - and put so much thought into each page. My grandson, who is 4 1/2, takes his time looking at each page as I read to him. He finds something new each time we read it. I have purchased other books that Brooke has illustrated and been so happy with all of them.

Beautiful big children’s book. Large pages and adorable illustrations, told in the unmistakable Dolly Parton style with a wonderful message. Such a sweet little book for your little one. They are sure to love it.
