I spent the last two years looking for an e-ink reader that could support Dropbox, library memberships, had high storage capacity, and wasn't tied to an ecosystem like Barnes and Noble or Amazon. The Boox Nova Air has a high price point, so I hesitated for awhile but I'm glad I went through with it.Pros:Runs Android 10, so if you're already invested in the Android market, you're good to go for most things an e-ink screen can support. Dropbox, One Drive, Google Drive, that sort of thing.Doesn't complain about the source of your e-books. Seems to work with Calibre, but you can always just plug the Nova Air into your computer and drag the files or your entire library over. Uploading books to this device is FAST.The backlighting is perfect—gives options to mix a warm yellowish glow with a more white/bluish glow (represented by Sun and Moon icons), and allows you to control those two parameters separately to create the mix you want.Fairly loud speakers with a decent frequency range.Very slim design, but also sturdy.Fairly high refresh rate for an e-reader.Great resolution with the option to embolden/darken text or images separately. You can embolden one but not the other.Customizable controls for turning pages, accessing menus, etc. Somewhat unintuitive at first, without about a 2 day learning curve, but when it clicks for you, it's powerful. (Hint: The little circle that expands into a fan of menu icons is everything.)If you're an "information should be free" sort of person, you might love this device as much as I do. Install your cloud storage apps, get the Libby app (for access to public libraries), pull over your previously owned files from other ecosystems. It doesn't care.I have been watching the device on home network. It doesn't appear to be sharing any information with third parties. No evidence of DRM yet. So far, I haven't found any evidence of hidden partitions, like Barnes and Noble devices that say "__ gigs of storage!" and then only give 15mb to books that weren't purchased on their website.Cons:This device arrives optimized for Chinese customers—at least mine did. That fact should have no affect on your greater experience, as once you select all your English options, you won't notice it. But if you're the sort of person who relies on manuals and write-ups, or who will fully read your warranty, the 'Chinglish' (poor translations between English and Chinese) may be discouraging or discomfiting.It's quite sizable for an e-ink reader if you're just looking to read books. But at this size, it's difficult to hold while laying in bed or carrying around the house. Weird thing to complain about, and I'm not complaining. But if you're hoping to have something that's comfortable in your hand while reading, this may be slightly too large. Note: I'm 6'0" and have large hands.It does NOT come with a case. Cases for this device are fairly expensive, but a bonus is that people on Etsy are already making them, and I believe the dimensions are similar to a previous BOOX device if you need something in a hurry.I'm still trying to figure out whether this device has a short battery life or not. It certainly eats more power than my previous e-ink readers, but I'm usually asking for it to do a lot. The battery is definitely okay to provide a day of reading. If you're particularly anal about it and start hunting down your charger at 90%, you're gonna have a bad time. This is a large screen with a high refresh rate, and the menu system employs a lot of animation. This is not like your Kindle. Treat it like a tablet. But if you must, there are settings you can adjust to save battery life.The pen: The pen feels great and provides a very real tactile experience when writing. It has a fine tip, so you can get incredibly detailed. However, it's an awkward addition in terms of it's size and heft. The incredibly thin profile of the device compared to the thick barrel of the pen means it's always going to be a slight pain in terms of storage and transport, and case designers are not gonna find many graceful solutions for its seamless inclusion. Is it worth it? 100% yes.This is the best e-reader I've ever owned.

I've had the Boox Nova Air for over a month now, so I feel qualified to offer some opinions on it. As I lack the inclination to write an in-depth review, I'm just going to list some likes and dislikes below.As an overall endorsement, though, what I can say is this: I went from a tentative, exploratory buyer ("I can always just return it") to the point where if mine, through my own fault, broke tomorrow - I'd order another one immediately. I can't go back to a Kindle now - it'd be like going back to a flip-phone.Likes: Well-made, well-designed. Very light. I've had a few Kindles, my last being a Paperwhite, and this is better-made than all and lighter than any of them. It's bigger (and lighter) than the Paperwhite, and the light-colored front-facing borders work much better than dark ones, leaving the page feeling less constrained. Good battery life. I use it for an hour or so every day (sometimes a lot more), and the initial charge lasted me more than a couple of weeks. In fact, I recharged it with about 30% left because I was tired of waiting for it to drop more. (This is with wireless and Bluetooth off, at about 60% brightness.) It's a full freakin' Android tablet. Sure, it's got a much slower refresh rate than many applications expect, but many applications don't require fast refresh anyway. (You won't be watching video or playing real-time games on this thing.) You can customize a lot of things, including the reader application itself - heck, you can have a few you swap between depending on need. There's a lot of potential here, and I don't feel like I've explored it enough to really comment on it.Dislikes: It turns off (goes from 'device on, screen off' to 'device off') after a (customizable) period of time, and to turn it on again will take a good 20-30 seconds as it boots up. That may not sound like a lot, but if you're the type of person who likes to press a button and be reading in a few seconds, you'll either have to learn patience or set your shutdown timeout to an extended period (meaning you'll use more battery life than if you let it shut down more frequently). It also boots to the start menu, not continuing what you were doing before. Luckily, you can set the time until it turns off, and until then it'll just sleep (keep the display and some peripherals powered down) until you wake it, at which point it immediately displays the last task you were doing. I have mine set for an hour, so if I turn the screen off and don't wake it for an hour, it'll power down. When it powers down, the screen will briefly flash on - so if you set it to turn off after an hour of inactivity, then set the device down, in an hour the display will briefly illuminate as it fully powers down. It's slightly annoying and can hopefully be fixed with a firmware update, but might be a limitation of the hardware design. Setting the brightness is annoying, and involved two sliders with different color temperatures, which skew the tint as you set them. So to change the brightness and keep the color temperature (tint) relatively the same, you'll likely have to click two sliders. It would be better if they could respect the user's chosen temperature and have one overall-brightness slider that adjusts both scales automatically. At first it didn't always register my brief taps, but that issue quickly went away. I figure the tap-detection is a bit less sensitive than the Kindle's, which I was used to, but I must've subconsciously learned to tap a fraction slower, because now it seems to register my touches every time. I guess sometimes you just need to learn how things like to be touched.All in all, as I say, the device is very much worth it for my needs. As to if it will meet yours - I hope the above will help you decide.

I should have been reading a book on this thing within 15 minutes. Instead, I wasted over four hours doing such simple things as trying to connect to wifi, trying to connect through USB, trying to find and install a decent dictionary, and watching third party YouTube videos since the manufacturer didn't bother to explain how to do any of that stuff. The user manual, which I finally managed to download after fighting with wifi, is poorly written and translated, bordering on useless.The hardware is super nice, very light; it fits well in the hand. I really wanted to like it. It was beautifully packaged with almost a Japanese level of attention to detail. If only they had spent as much time on the software...If you love tinkering with devices and troubleshooting a poorly designed user interface, this is the device for you.If you just want to read e-books, look elsewhere, as I am now doing.

Sinceramente speravo in qualcosa di più... cosa di preciso? Beh forse non saprei neanche io, ma date le caratteristiche, come viene pubblicizzato, le varie recensioni qui su Amazon e anche su Youtube che ho visto prima di acquistarlo, e soprattutto per il prezzo che è di fascia alta e non risulta economico per questo tipo di device (anche se paragonato ai competitor)... beh mi sarei aspettato un qualcosa di più...La prima premessa: l'ho comprato perché cercavo un buon ereader e anche qualcosa per prendere appunti e scrivere con la penna in versione "taccuino" digitale. Avevo visto anche altre marche, ma questa era quella recensita meglio per tutti gli aspetti, fra cui durata della batteria e la qualità costruttiva.Prime impressioni: un "tablet" e ink davvero splendido! Sì: bellissimo a vedersi e di ottima qualità costruttiva. Qui va tutto il mio plauso e le 5 stelle.Come lettore di ebook ed ereader: nuovamente ottimo. Schermo bello grande, illuminazione (retroilluminazione, gamma, regolazione automatica, etc...) nuovamente ottima: davvero un piacere leggerci gli ebook!Tra l'altro essendo un "tablet" o almeno con un sistema operativo misto, è possibile leggere sia gli ebook di Kobo che di Kindle, come di altri servizi e altri formati... come addirittura andare su youtube internet e vedere video di youtube (cosa per me senza senso essendo in bianco e nero). Possibilità di leggere giornali e pdf e fumetti etc...Diverse impostazioni regolabili, dalla velocità di refresh e ghosting, al risparmio energetico...E in più anche la possibilità di prendere appunti o di scriverci con pennino incluso. Possibilità di sentire l'audio dalle casse integrate. Wifi e bluetooth.Insomma davvero tante opzioni e possibilità.Cosa non mi ha convinto, motivo per cui ho poi fatto il reso?Innanzitutto la durata della batteria: si è scaricata a vista d'occhio dal momento in cui l'ho accesso, ogni due minuti (a occhio) perdeva un punto di carica, alle volte anche in un minuto... E' vero che all'inizio, tutto connesso a wifi e prove di bluetooth, e prove di ascolto audio e scaricacaggio applicazioni Kobo e Kinbdle e prove di scrittura... insomma ne ho fatto un uso un po' intensivo, ma comunque la batteria a mio giudizio si scarica troppo in fretta. Ho fatto anche un aggiornamento patch per vedere se migliorava, ma nulla. Forse bisognava aspettare qualche ciclo della batteria per dargli più longevità? Questo non lo so, so che non mi ha convinto anche perché tutti ne parlavano ottimamente, ma non mi è sembrato.Altre cose che non mi sono piaciute: il ghosting leggendo i fumetti davvero "scandaloso" mi verrebbe da dire, sempre per i miei gusti e contando che c'è l'opzione "Turbo" o simile (non ricordo precisamente il nome) che dovrebbe eliminarlo del tutto e invece pare non farlo per niente... altri ereader che ho provato funzionano molto meglio da questo punto di vista e sempre a mio avviso.Le casse audio: ottima pensata per sentire audiobook senza il bisogno di utilizzare il bluetooth... se non fosse che hanno un volume davvero molto basso al loro massimo... Alla fine la qualità audio che ne esce, sempre a mio avviso, è abbastanza scadente o scarsa, tanto che non ha troppo senso utilizzarle, dunque un'altra opzione pagata che avrebbe dovuto fare la differenza con altri ereader che per me si è rivelata se non inutile almeno non utilizzabile per qualità.Per quanto riguarda poi la scrittura, il pallino di differenza: si scrive abbastanza bene, anche se effettivamente lo schermo qui risulta un po' troppo piccolo e non è il massimo della comodità (ma questo forse un po' potevo aspettarmelo)... Non sono un esperto di scrittura sui tablet quindi non saprei dire se meglio o peggio rispetto a d altri, so che mi interessava molto l'opzione di digitalizzazione automatica dallo scritto a mano al digitale... beh anche qui devo dire esperienza davvero pessima: praticamente inesistente anche avendo scaricato il pacchetto in italiano e scrivendo una frase a due allora, il software non è in grado di riconoscere e digitalizzare né il minuscolo né lo stampatello... o meglio azzecca una parola su tre, anche su quattro... praticamente per me inutilizzabile.Se però dovete prendere appunti sui libri, forse funziona meglio, ma non è una opzione che ho provato perché non mi interessava.In generale, il software del "tablet" ereader è poi un po' tutto ingarbugliato e ci si perde un po' nei suoi meandri, con un menu di opzioni sempre presente sulla destra in basso anche quando si legge... magari però qui sarebbe bastata un po' di pratica e magari capire bene tutte le opzioni per migliorare l'esperienza di uso che non è intuitiva e per me non delle migliori...Insomma, probabilmente, "giocandoci" un po' più di tempo o meglio prendendoci la mano, alcune di questi miei lati negativi sono certo siano risolvibili, ma alla fine mi sono ritrovato con un ottimo ereader in mano, dallo schermo favoloso, con cui potevo però solo leggere gli ebook a un prezzo di almeno un terzo superiore alla norma... come dire tutte le funzioni in più (scrittura, casse audio...) non sono per me utilizzabili in quanto non all'altezza, ma contribuiscono solo a far scaricare prima la batteria...Per me dunque, questo tablet eink ereader resta affascinante e bello, ma non fa per me. Chissà forse il modello più grande, con maggiore batteria e capacità di spazio per scrivere potrebbe essere meglio? O resterebbero comunque anche gli altri problemi da me riscontrati?Lo consiglio comunque a chi vuole qualcosa di superiore alla norma in fatto di qualità e distinzione soprattutto per lo schermo... non è però scontato che si possano utilizzare tutte le opzioni che si comprano in più, almeno non in maniera intuitiva o con il risultato che ci si aspetta perché tanto decantato...Credo onestamente che il produttore sia di alta qualità e grande professionalità... ma questo non è il suo migliore prodotto in termini di compromessi: alla fine ha fin troppe opzioni che quelle che dovrebbero davvero distinguerlo dalla concorrenza (o darti una esperienza di uso unica) non valgono per me il prezzo né fanno la vera differenza, ma bisogna "accontentarsi" di come non funzionino al top.Mi dispiace avere fatto il reso, ma non era per me.

Il mio vecchio eReader cominciava a perdere colpi, così ho deciso di guardarmi intorno e fare un upgrade.Dopo una settimana di utilizzo posso dire il mio parere su questo Onyx.PRO:- legge qualsiasi tipo di file- ottima illuminazione regolabile in millemila modi- penna in dotazione (e di buona qualità)- possibilità di prendere appunti anche agevolmente, ottima sensazione di scrittura- molto maneggevole con lo schermo da 7.8"- ottima resa nelle immagini- possibilità di utilizzare alcune basiche funzioni da tablet- discreta durata della batteria- casse integrate per sentire audiolibri- possibilità di registrareCONTRO:- al momento non ne trovoLa cosa che più mi interessava era di poter leggere qualsiasi formato di eBook, da qualsiasi store io li compri, e questo eReader lo permette senza problemi, anche la resa sui pdf è molto buona.Si può accedere ai libri in due modi: 1) caricandoli sulla memoria dell'eReader, 2) accedendo alle varie app di lettura (kindle, kobo ecc.)Se il libro è caricato sulla memoria dell'eReader è possibile anche utilizzare la penna per appunti, sottolineature ecc, se invece si accede dalla app la penna non sarà abilitata ma sarà comunque possibile evidenziare con l'apposita funzione.Con una memoria di 32 GB diciamo che avrete spazio per una vita di letture...Supporta il google play store, senza problemi, occorre solo abilitarlo dalle impostazioni, a quel punto potrete scaricare le app che vi interessano, ad es. Drive per salvare e condividere le vostre note.La funzione Note è ben sviluppata, permette di scrivere a mano libera, convertire il testo tramite un convertitore automatico sufficientemente preciso (scaricate e abilitate il dizionario italiano, sennò non è così preciso..), disegnare, fare schizzi, prendere appunti di ogni tipo.La sensazione di scrittura è molto buona, non è la carta ma si avvicina molto. La penna in dotazione è di buona qualità, dotata di magnete rimane attaccata allo chassis dell'eReader e non la perdete (e ci rimane davvero!).Non ho provato microfono e registratore perché sono due funzioni che non mi interessano, ma ben venga che ci sono, volendo si possono sentire audiolibri o musica.L'esperienza di lettura, la funzione che mi interessava principalmente, è molto buona, le regolazioni dell'illuminazione sono infinite, l'illuminazione laterale non affatica gli occhi e sembra davvero di leggere su carta. Le dimensioni contenute mi permettono di averlo sempre in borsa, per una lettura d'emergenza in sala d'attesa o per prendere qualche appunto al volo.La connessione con il wifi di casa è stata rapida ed è efficace.Il menù è completo, l'utilizzo intuitivo, personalizzabili i comandi gestuali (per es scorrendo dall'alto in basso si attivano le impostazioni quali luminosità, grandezza carattere ecc, dal basso all'alto si torna alla home).Secondo me si tratta di un ottimo prodotto, completo e funzionale, è un ereader con le funzioni base di un tablet, ma se cercate un tablet guardate altrove, vi snerverà (touch screen non così reattivo, monocromatico ecc.), se cercate un buon ereader invece prendetelo in considerazione, è un po' più completo di tanti altri.Io ne sono molto soddisfatta, dopo aver cercato parecchio in rete mi è sembrata la soluzione ideale per me e non ne sono pentita. Il prezzo, al momento di circa 350 euro, è proporzionato alla qualità del prodotto, lo ricomprerei sicuramente, secondo me li vale. 5 stelle!Spero la mia esperienza possa aiutarvi nel valutare i vostri acquisti, grazie e alla prossima.

Il ne faut pas attendre d'une liseuse plus que ce qu'elle peut offrir en l'état actuel de la technique.L'atout premier est le confort de lecture inégalé en plein jour et en pleine lumière. Là où les écrans LED souffrent terriblement de la concurrence du soleil, l'encre électronique fait merveille. L'écran s'illumine naturellement comme les pages d'un livre. La Nova Air excelle dans l'exercice avec sa bonne définition de 300 DPI et sa taille quasi idéale. Le contraste est bon sans plus, la tonalité générale restant un peu grise.En pénombre, l'écran bénéficie d'un éclairage frontal additionnel, d'intensité réglable. C'est mieux qu'un rétro-éclairage mais un peu fatigant et énergivore.Au chapitre des faiblesses, inhérentes à toutes les liseuses actuelles, figurent l'absence de couleur (les modèles qui en proposent restent loin d'être au point). L'inertie de l'affichage reste un peu pénible, tout comme son rafraîchissement approximatif, surtout comparée à la fluidité des tablettes LED.Parmi les points forts de la Nova Air, il y a Android qui lui sert de SE et qui permet de retrouver un environnement classique pour les habitués. Du coup, il est possible de télécharger toutes sortes d'applis, de surfer sur le Web via le WIFI, d'utiliser sa messagerie...Comme certains commentaires l'ont souligné, les manoeuvres destinées à installer Google Play ou même un simple dictionnaire sont laborieuses, mais c'est tout à fait faisable. Les instructions sont tantôt en français, tantôt en anglais (parfois en chinois)...Le bloc notes est assez séduisant, d'autant que l'écriture et le dessin s'avèrent agréables à pratiquer. En revanche, la reconnaissance de l'écriture manuscrite laisse à désirer, non pas tant dans l'aptitude à transcrire les mots, très bonne, mais dans la capacité à respecter leur agencement. Ce défaut qui limite la prise de notes dans l'application livrée avec la machine disparaît totalement dans d'autres environnements, notamment google drive. Le reconnaisance de l'écriture manuscrite devient alors quasi parfaite...En matière d'accessoires, c'est la portion congrue. Pas d'adaptateur secteur, pas de mines de rechange pour le stylet, pas d'étui protecteur. A noter qu'il n'y a pas de logement pour le stylet juste un aimant sur le bord de l'appareil, assez peu pratique.On déplore enfin l'absence de baie d'accueil pour une carte micro SD, et celle de prise casque. On pourra toutefois écouter de la musique au casque via la prise USBc et un DAC, après avoir téléchargé une application de lecture audio (par ex PowerAmp).Il s'agit donc d'un très bon appareil, doté de quelques fonctions additionnelles bienvenues. Son prix relativement élevé est à la hauteur des prestations mais freinera peut-être celles et ceux qui n'ont besoin que d'une liseuse...

Soy amante de las libretas Moleskine, y si miro entre todas las que tengo a lo largo de los años no me caben encima de la mesa. Es un placer rebuscar entre las notas recogidas a lo largo de los años y lo curioso que es encontrar anotaciones y recordar el momento en que las escribí.No obstante, es tedioso buscar entre ellas para encontrar una nota importante una vez ha pasado tiempo, y por descontado, el volumen que ocupan en mi estantería así que desde hace tiempo buscaba un sustituto digital.La libreta electrónica de BOOX te ofrece un sustituto ideal. El tamaño es perfecto, no ocupa nada, la llevas a todos los sitios y te ofrece una experiencia de escritura fantástica. La tablet lleva un protector ya colocado de serie para que tengas la sensación de escribir sobre papel, y la verdad que es lo más parecido que he probado.No se trata de un dispositivo muy rápido, pero lo suficiente para poder trabajar cómodamente. Además al funcionar con sistema Android puedes añadir las aplicaciones que se te ocurran y de esta forma dejar de lado el tener que cargar también con una tablet. La combinación de un móvil y la libreta de BOOX es perfecta.La textura de la carcasa trasera te da mucha seguridad al sujetarla con la mano, en ningún momento piensas que te va a caer o se va a deslizar.La aplicación de notas es muy rápida y el lápiz escribe super fluido. También puedes añadir plantillas en el diseño de página, el dispositivo trae un montón, pero también puedes diseñar tu propia plantilla y cargarla lo que resulta muy útil.En definitiva, estuve comparando y mirando un montón de revisiones en You Tube sobre libretas de tinta electrónica y esta es la que más me convenció. He probado otras como la Remarkable 2 y no me transmite las mismas sensaciones, a parte que es más cara y necesitas pagar una suscripción para obtener los servicios en la nube. En esta no pagas nada más.Por último decir que la duración de la batería es espectacular, de verdad que te olvidas de cuando la cargaste por última vez. Y algo muy importante, ni una huella, la superficie es mate y no se quedan las huellas marcadas ni en la pantalla ni en la parte trasera.Un dispositivo que no puede faltar ya cuando salgo de casa a trabajar.
