Best Vornado Fan Ever
I have owned Vornado fans for decades. This is the best model I have every owned. I have fans in every room and do not turn them off. Vornado fans can run continuously for over 5 years. This model has ball bearings and may outlast the 5 year normal age before needing replacement.

High quality, long lasting, priceless!!
This is my third purchase. This fan is a 10 star . For years on end I run these fans from early march day and night till deep winter. NON STOP. They are extremely easy to clean on a yearly basis. My very first one is getting slightly ( louder)haha I guess its old age, non the less runs 24/7!!

Best brand better price!
Vornado fans are awesome! It’s almost like they make cold air. I have been watching this model for the garage and garage attic to go on sale. I was able to snag a new fan for $50.00 less than the Amazon usual price. Shipping was free (USPS) and it arrived a couple of days earlier than scheduled. Would recommend this brand and this seller.

Seems OK but only time will tell if it was worth the money
I generally like Vornado fans and this is the third one I have purchased. I bought it hoping it would be a "big gun" to pull out on the warmest days to help move air around the entire house. It works reasonably well but I cannot say that I detect that much larger movement of air than the (slightly) cheaper model that is a bit less noisy. My wife also dislikes the color for in the house but that was the only color choice I was given at the time...and I was looking to be cool as measured by a thermometer, not a some design standard. My one complaint about Vornado is that they do not seem to publish air movement information (CFM is the typical standard, for cubic feet per minute). I suspect it is because they move less air than you might think, but they do seem to brag about how far their fans "throw" air, which is less important to me.

Vornado vs high velocity fans
I have 3 Vornados and was curious if a 14 inch high velocity fan could match it. First thing i noticed was the the KEN 14 inch had MUCH bigger blades! I first tried both fans up close about 3 to 4 feet away from me. WOW what a difference! The Vornado because of it more turbulent and FOCUSED LASER BEAM air flow feels much colder against my skin. When I switched over to the Ken...the air felt diffused ..like the air was not focused but spread out. I had to put the Ken on high speed to match the Vornado's low speed and coolness. Another thing I do during the winter and summer is use Vornados to move cold and hot air far away to other rooms. The KEN was no match here either! The Vornado moves the air easily 30ft into my kitchen and back rooms of the house, delivering both heat during the winter and cold air in the summer! I am just spoiled on the Vornado's ability to chill my skin at close range and the ability to throw air farther that anything out there. You would have to get a much larger fan with the same Vornadic action built into the front of the grill to best it! Currently, all of the high velocity fans have the same "open cage" design and just blow diffused "non focused " air. I have 2 of the 5-speed premium 16 inch 745 Vornado's and 1 of the new 16 inch 293 Heavy duty Shop fan Vornado, both bought here at Amazon. Try this test with your fans at home! Take a piece of toilet paper, place your fan on the floor and just keep going backwards until you can not feel the fan blowing or see if it can move the toilet paper with a good strong breeze...if it's less than 25 feet..you need a Vornado! This thing easily pressurizes large rooms! You walk into the room and a very pressurized strong breeze engulfs your entire body! Feel's like you are at the beach on a windy day after a cold front! lol Make sure the fan is placed correctly at one end of the room. I have have two rooms connected with french double doors that open it up into one very large room, both rooms together are 30 feet long. This thing easily pressurizes both my rooms and still moves air into to other rooms 40 to 50 feet away!

293HD is quiet, powerful, and is easy to move around
Vornado fans move a lot of air with their patented designed grill (the shape of the blades and the plastic that extends out helps move air on this model as well). This model is comparable to http://www.amazon.com/Vornado-660-Air-Circulator-Speeds/dp/B0025QKUE8/ref=pd_sim_hg_5 - 54 watts (about 100 dollars with 4 speeds), http://www.amazon.com/Vornado-733B-Full-size-Whole-Circulator/dp/B000MI3HJQ/ref=pd_bxgy_hg_img_z - 84 watts (about 100 dollars with 3 speeds), http://www.amazon.com/Vornado-Full-Size-Circulator-Adustable-Height/dp/B000E5XNAK/ref=pd_sim_hg_6 - 84 watts (about 120-130 dollars with 3 speeds) and then finally the 293HD which is about 120-130 dollars (with 3 speeds). These fans are all presented in slightly different packages. The 660 model is all black, electric push button controls that allow you to go to 4 different speeds and includes a beep sound after the push (allows for push button shut off and on), and with a smaller stand than the HD can sit on counter tops and in smaller areas. The 733B has a different stand than the 660 model and is also black. The 783 extends upwards to 48 inches. If your a Vornado user already, or your looking to try out one of the best models, I recommend that you check out the models listed above and take some time to read a few reviews and take a look at the specs on the Vornado website.I recommend this product based on:- Air flow (all three setting are useful for different situations, many people will be able to sleep on the first setting and maybe even second setting)and this particular model has a protruding grey piece of plastic to help strengthen air flow over other Vornado's in the model's I included up above- Durability with thick plastic, heavy duty strong handle, strong-heavy metal base, good thick rubber feet on base (padding on the handle will likely wear down over time depending on how you use the fan, but otherwise will serve its purpose for quite awhile anyways)- 10 foot cord (this I find to be very helpful with fans, and includes a fuse at the end of the cord)- Easy to pick up and move (four screws hold the handle in place) and I see the handle holding up over the lifespan of the fan- Fan can be taken off the metal base, mounted (with mounting equipment included), and or used without the stand- 293HD is supposed to be best in dusty areas and sealed to withstand those types of conditionsIt's nice to see a Vornado fan in something different other than the usual Vornado black, white, or all grey models.Update: Nov. 16th 2016, still works the same years later with heavy usage. Recommend using a thicker rubber washer (found at the hardware store), over the one that is provided. The one that is provided fell apart after a few months of use, and didn't work very well to keep the fan in position. This is a great fan that is easy to move around and use. I recommend this Vornado 783 Full-Size Whole Room Air Circulator, Adjustable Height if you're looking for more air flow, and a better position off the ground. Both are different fans, great in their own unique way.
