This Timex Watch (but not any battery, crystal, band, or strap) is warranted to the owner for a period of ONE YEAR from the date of purchase against defects in manufacture by Timex Corporation. Timex will not repair defects relating to servicing not performed by Timex Corporation. This limited warranty applies to US Customers. CasioWith the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward.

A Gold Medal Winner
I used to do a ton of running - pr's are 33:40 in 10k, 16:18 in 5k and 1:18 in the half-marathon - but now spend much more time in the pool. This is a tremendous watch for on land or in the water because the main dials for use while in motion are on the front portion of the watch & are easy to use to record splits, time overall workouts and view the digits. The countdown timer is continuous, which is what I need, as I will spend upwards of three hours freestyle in the pool for a workout. I simply set it at one hour and let the buzzer keep me aware that I'm closer to the steam room with every turn!My wrists are slim and the strap comfortably secures the watch with notches to spare. The price makes this Ironman a strong contender for a best buy in the crowded field of athletic-styled watches.

I bought an older model of this watch in Boston in 1994. I love the big digits and the countdown timer with multiple functions, for example the repeating timer.

Nice tribute
Pretty neat. I had an original 8 lap ironman when I was a kid in the 80's, saw this, and picked it up. Part of the reason I got it was for nostalgia, but part was because it's much smaller and slimmer than the modern gigantic gshock-type clunkers. Everything works as it should on an original ironman, though it does feel slightly cheaper than the original, going by memory. I did have to replace the battery, which was to be expected, Timex hasn't made these in quite a few years, so these are kind of new old stock in a way. An indication that you may need a battery, is the indiglo is only visible from certain angles, and the alarm/chime is sad sounding. Nice little lightweight watch, would still work great for jogging (or timing your cooking).

DECENT WATCH FOR £25 BUT NOT AS SHOWN!
I chose this watch for its clear display showing time, day & date in equal sized digits & with very good contrast compared to many other watches (i.e. easily read). Unfortunately the watch I received is not as shown. The display contrast is very poor, due to the background being much more grey than in the picture & the 'time' digits are approx. twice the size of the 'day & date' digits (also there is no horizontal line between the two). A little investigation suggests that the watch being sold is a 're-run' of a 'timex classic' & is not identical to the original. My guess is that some money saving has been done on the internals to the detriment of the final product. The watch case & strap are as shown, they are of good quality & seem to have a more rubberised feel than the original (which I previously owned). I'll attempt to attach a picture I found online showing old v new (although the new one shown has a green display background unlike the one I received which is grey & less clear to read)
