Thermal GrizzlyMinus Pad 8 - Thermal Interface Pad 100x100x2.0mm, Electrically Non-Conductive, High Thermal Conductivity & Compressibility for SSDs, GPUs & Electronics

My Mac had started to throttle and would choke when it came down to higher tasks and needing to really do CPU intensive work, whether it was streaming multiple things while also having a video call going, or using video editing software. I figured that it would be worthy to clean out the underside and put thermal padding on the areas where the heatsink are. So I received this thermal pad and cleaned my Mac out and applied this and wow. I can't believe how much the effect has been. My peak temperatures would get to 212 F and throttle and cause the computer to choke and freeze. Now with my CPU operating at 100% (using BOINC for World Community Grid software), I'm getting peak temperatures of about 168-175 F. I would say that if you are even slightly technically inclined and want to increase the performance of your computer and own a MacBook, this would be a very worthy use of your time. It took me about 1 hour from the time I started removing the case to closing it back up and getting all the padding cut to fit onto the heatsink. Don't forget to take the plastic film off the top of the pad as well when you're done!I will say that this does not seem to really increase the performance of the CPU and GPU, but allows it to run at a higher load for a longer time due to a better heat transfer process. I'm glad I chose the 2 mm pad because I think it makes better contact with the metal surface of the backplate vs the smaller ones. I would not use this on my lap for these intense tasks, however. But when I use it on my lap for light tasks, there's really no issue.

I have used these Minus 8 pads for years for all sorts of projects. They come in every possible thickness and are very easy to work with. 9/10 times they are outright better than the factory pads being replaced. These particular pads were purchased to refurbish an Xbox One X. There is plenty of material here for the entire console several times over. You could probably do 3 or 4 of them given the amount needed. Along with some Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste my Xbox is quieter and cooler than ever.

XBOX ONE X - opened the box, scraped all the trash off MY new property and added perfectly cut-to-size pads of this minus 8 "clay". Don't forget the chips off to the side. (No, I used TIM on the GPU... so there). I say "clay" because it really is kinda like a maleable clay. It is sticky on both sides, too. This material is sold as 2mm and when I scraped off the "old dried-paste" it measured just below 2mm thick. (Yes, I said it was "dried-paste"). So far so good. Put the box back together and I don't hear a fan.... EVER. Under heavy load, light load... the fan might be unplugged right? I get up close and listen and it's on but a few feet away it's silent. This stuff has the best "laboratory" specs vs all the competitors and with the TIM mod on the GPU to round it all out I FREAKING LOVE THIS STUFF. Too bad it's so prohibitively expensive. Do the mod. It works.

This pad was used to fix an overheating Xbox One X (Scorpio), after a cpu repaste did not fix the issue. Once a reposted and replaced the pads with this the Xbox has run great thru testing. Runs quiet again, and has not seen any overheating issues.

I replaced the 💩 in my Aorus Master 3080 with this and the minus pad 8 at 1mm. (as well as a different brand of 3mm pads) The end result was a success.I can't rate longevity, I've only had them for a month.Availability was terrible though. I had to buy my pads from 3 separate places and 2 different brands, and ship them across the Atlantic, which cost me an arm and a leg. The total repair of the GPU rose to 150USD Should take me 2 months of mining (at my new hash rate) for the investment in these pads to be in the black.

This is some good stuff. Have a dell laptop that I upgraded the cpu from i5 to i7. The older i7 ran super hot and was shutting down. The gap between the cpu and heatsink was too much to use any paste. Installed this and my laptop runs much much cooler. Has not had a thermal shutdown since.Very pleased. This is my new goto cpu cooling product. Would definitely purchase again.

Replaced the thermal pads on my Xbox one x with these and it is whisper quiet now. They were easy to install and a great replacement for the stock thermal pads.
