The Leopard Gecko Manual: From The Experts At Advanced Vivarium Systems

Great for details
This book is so detailed and told me everything I needed to know. It was a little scientific and sometimes hard to understand, so if you're looking for something simple and short this is not your book. But it will be my reference for years to come as I buy my first gecko this year. I am especially excited about the prospect of breeding and all the detailed information on how to do so. Great book.

Worth it! Please read if you want to learn more about leopard geckos.
This is a very good book to have when first owning or learning about leopard geckos. Though this was published a while back, all of the information is useful (and the author has a newer version out now). I didn't think all of this was "basic knowledge" like some of the reviews led me to first believe. It was well worth the money. I learned a lot.

Good Overall Manual
This is a good manual for people starting out and for those who want to try a hand at breeding. If you already have a gecko and a good idea of how to care for it - it is basically a repeat of what you already know. For those that have a gecko, a good idea of how to care for it, and wish to take a stab at breeding - it provides excellent information.

It's not often that I buy books like this, but I will say that this is a very good purchase on my part. What I like the most about this book is that it's very informative. You can tell that the author did his homework on the leopard gecko and is the first that I've seen that actually drives the point home that captive bred doesn't mean healthy. If you're looking for a book that also has information on the African Fat Tails, no problem. It's in the same exact book in just as much detail as the sections about the leos. Overall, I give it a 5 star rating.

Some good info but you may need a dictionary
Here is a story.A family with a second grader is thinking of getting a gecko. This book has good reviews. The second grader can't wait until the book arrives, and then when she gets it, she can't read it because of all the unnecessary big words and awful writing. So, the parents read and translate it for her.So that's why I give the book three stars. There's good information in there, but it's so unnecessarily DENSE with big words vs. simple ones (are the authors trying to seem smart? Do herpetologists have an inferiority complex?) There's also a lot about breeding and developing your own "morphs" of geckos that we aren't even going to touch, so much of the book was irrelevant to us.On the plus side, the basic information about feed, care, and creating a good environment for the gecko is all there. And the photos are great.

Pretty good starter book
I thought this was a quick and easy read. Before reading this book I already knew quite a bit about leopard geckos. So, this didn't help me too much but anyone who is looking for an easy way to learn about these amazing creatures with not much knowledge about them then this book would be great.

Good info, just not the only place to find it
All very good information and priced fairly but honestly probably 90% of this can be found for free on the internet with a simple search. Still as I stated it is cheap enough and nice to have all of that information in one easy to find place.

Quite basic
I'm buying a leopard gecko in a few months :), so I've been looking for info on the net. After reading some articles, I purchased this book.It has some nice pictures and basically everything you need to know, but it's too basic.I expected to find more about feeding, genetics...insted I just find a little information about what to feed and some gecko morphs pictures. It shows the existing morphs but doesn't say what gecko morphs you need to breed in order produce a determinated morph.Good to start, though. Now I'm buying the Herpetoculture of Leopard gecko, hope I find more info there.

Invaluable Source of Information
Very informative book for anyone considering having a Leopard Gecko as a pet, it covers everything from basic health care to housing to feeding and how to spot if your Gecko is ill (as they are very good at hiding symptoms). I would certainly recommend reading this beforehand to ensure you look after the lizard properly.

Great gift for my boyfriend who wants to breed our geckos in the future. I would only say it feels a bit dated but it was written a good while back but certainly very interesting and informative.
