Essential Protection for Your Devices!
I recently started using the PortaPow USB Power Blocker with my micro USB cable for my 3D printer, and I have to say, it's been a game-changer! This little gadget does an excellent job of preventing my printer from pulling too much power from my sonic pad, which could potentially damage it. It stops charging while still allowing data transfer, ensuring that my devices stay safe and sound. Installation was a breeze - I simply plugged it in between my printer and the sonic pad, and it started working right away. Plus, it's super compact, so it doesn't take up much space. Overall, I'm incredibly impressed with the PortaPow USB Power Blocker. It's a simple yet effective solution that gives me peace of mind knowing that my devices are protected. Five stars from me!

Does what it says on the tin.
Does exactly what it says is does. Prevents 5v power from reaching the device. Really only needed when dealing with self-powered devices that don't implement USB properly, which either try to backpower the host, or partially start only the 5v components. In the past I'd carve up a cable, and cut the 5v line, or modify the target device itself, and this is a bit easier of a solution. Things work well at 12Mbps (USB 1 "Full" speed). I have not tested with any 2.x devices, though the traces are pretty short, I would expect no issues. (All of my easily available 2.x devices are bus-powered, and they won't work for obvious reasons).

Perfectly adequate to my needs
I have purchased a twin pack of PortaPow blockers because I needed to connect an old, self-powered, device to my PC with a USB-A to USB-A cable and couldn't afford the risk of short-circuiting anything. I could modify the cables, but I'm not very good with that kind of skill. Fortunately I've found these on Amazon. I've been told that using a single blocker on the cable would be enough, but it works fine with both too. Data goes through flawlessly while power stays put. Just clarifying for those in doubt: this product is meant to block power, not data transfers! If you're looking for a data blocker, I believe the same company also provides those, but this isn't the same thing.

Great for connecting my Ender 3 to a Pi running OctoPrint!
I always disliked having my Pi Zero 2 W backpower my Ender 3 when I had turned the printer off, and this solved that issue quick and easy. Same deal with a 3018 Pro CNC. It’s a simple fix and probably wildly overpriced for what it is, but no fuss and it just works!

Power blockers!
Remember, these block POWER, not DATA. I'm using it for my CNC and 3D printer to block power from my PC because the controller boards have external power input. If you want to block DATA, they have those too... it's just not these ones.

Works, but NOT for **Schiit DACs**
This product works as intended for blocking power on the usb, but did not work with the products I had wanted to use it with. But I was impressed with the how sturdy the build quality of this is. I own a Schiit Modius and Bifrost (gen 3 usb), both devices are recognized via usb with this device, but would not output anything. Both devices had independent power of the computers usb. The problem I wanted to solve is either EMI noise or a usb ground loop from a high power gaming computer. When either dac is connected via usb, they pick up a lot of electrical noise when the computer is in high power states. The noise comes through on the Modius even if on a different input, the computer usb has to be completely disconnected (seperate usb power via wall wart and optical from the computer are crystal clear). Unfortunately, the same noise is coming through to the DACs with the power blocked via this device... So the usb is dirty on just the data pins. I have ordered a slightly more expensive usb isolator and filter to try...

Power blocker worked as expected. Priced right.
Just what I needed to prevent my device from powering a host device I needed to access. Data continued to be available from my device. Good price.

Didn't work
I bought these to use CarPlay without constantly charging my phone battery. They didn't work. My car refused to acknowledge my phone was plugged in using this adapter. Waste of money.

Gutes Produkt macht was es soll.

Beide funktionieren überhaupt nicht, ja es kommt kein Strom am USB-Gerät an aber auch sonst nix. Alles was man dran schließt obwohl es eigene Stromversorgung hat ist komplett ohne Funktion.
