what an unexpected treat!
I loved so much about this book— the humor, the imagery, the characters. I had no idea what to expect here, but the tone and voice were exactly what I have been looking for in a book.

Imaginative, outstanding
The wildness and creativity used to summarize the reality of our American corporate culture in a terrifying, revealing way, was amazing. So glad I found this writer. It's like a quicker, smarter King or Koontz novel. The end was so much better than anything read or seen (movie) in years. Almost as if you might think you know but it does not matter feel at the end. It ends nicely and feels satisfying.

Wow, there's a lot to unpack here...
First, the opening of this novel is NOT for everyone and is not for the weak of heart. Think Redding Wedding meets last 20 minutes of the season 1 finale of Westworld. Terror? check. Carnage? check. One or two surprise killings?? check. check. Within the carnage (or despite it) the reader is challenged to ponder clues that are introduced to determine if there is a method to all the madness. At its core, this dystopian novel is about (for me anyway) good versus evil and what it means to be “human” and self-aware. I had a similar reaction after watching season 1 and 2 of Westworld…there are some obvious parallels. There is a ton of action in here but the heart of the story lies with its protagonist as he battles with his consciousness to find “the Truth.” Things are not always what they seem and there are lots of twists and turns along the way before we get to the final scene which is both heart-wrenching and satisfying at the same time. I found myself going back to the beginning to find clues that I may have missed and try and put the pieces of the puzzle back together. In conclusion, lots of bad sh** happens to people in this novel but there are redeemable characters (well, at least one) and a redeemable story line that makes the read well worth it. Hence, the 5-star rating. If I have any criticism to offer it would involve the, ahem, “romantic” scenes. Let’s just say this novel will not put the author on any contemporary romantic best seller lists any time soon. But of course this is a dystopian novel so I doubt the racy scenes are going to offend many readers too much.Favorite quotes: “Heart always defeats avarice. Passion always defeats power. The game will be lost by the one who cares the least”. “Hope, like memories, is a fiction. Bad things happen to good people. Evil lives in a castle with a thousand concubines and feeds on pain like it’s honey. Don’t continue feeding the beast.”

Wow. Just...wow
This truly was a wild ride. It starts off with a bang and never has a dull moment. Highly highly suggest for those who are fans of the violence and storylines/plot twists of GOT and TWD at their peaks.

Best Pandemic Book I Have Read So Far
Great story and writing style by Profit. Stick with this book as it as layer upon layer of storyline. I for sure can see this as a NetFlix or HBO franchise for the masses!!
