Yeah, it's expensive. But it's really yummy.
Overall, we haven't minded being on a (mostly) paleo diet very much. Especially given the results: My husband's blood sugar numbers are in range (the original reason) and both of us lost weight that we wanted to lose. Plus, staying on the diet isn't nearly as hard as it sounds like.Except for breakfast, especially a quick-grab breakfast. There are lots of good options for making a paleo-friendly lazy Sunday Morning Breakfast (such as pancakes), and many good cookbooks to help you do so (e.g. Danielle Walker's Against All Grain or Paleo Comfort Foods ). But if it's 8:30am and I have a 9am meeting, I need something RIGHT NOW. And there's just so much yogurt-and-fruit or cold cuts I can eat before I whimper, "Can't I have something _else_?" I'm glad I found these Paleo Coconut Flakes, because it's definitely extended my quick-breakfast choices.I was a little dubious at first. For one thing, I've tried the Julian brand "paleo bread" that's sold at Whole Foods and I've been... let's just say "gravely disappointed." (We didn't finish either loaf we bought.)But I liked the ingredients in this item, and decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did. These flakes (served with almond milk) definitely fill the "just gimme some corn flakes" niche that had been left empty. They don't taste exactly like corn flakes, but they have much the same texture. The taste doesn't shout "COCONUT!" but it's not absent either.I think the company is experimenting a little bit with the product. This is my second order of (ostensibly) the same item. The first one came in a plastic bag; now it's in a box. And the flakes seem to be a little "fatter." But over all I take this as a positive, since it's obviously a small business working to improve what it delivers.However... it ain't cheap, and since it's not on Amazon Prime the shipping charge does add to the cost. Whether that's affordable or worth-the-money is a decision I'll let you make. If it were less expensive I'd buy this more often... but it's so good that I know I _will_ buy it.

This will probably work great for some, though it wasn't for me.
This cereal is high in good fats, has amazing texture (I would not have been able to distinguish them from corn flakes were it not for the extremely coconutty taste), and will likely make a great treat for paleo folks who miss cold cereal. With a little bit of sweetener (I added some xylitol, personally), these are respectably tasty. I will warn that the coconut taste is extremely overwhelming. Of course, they're called 'Coconut Flakes', one should expect nothing less, but for some bizarre reason, I did.Unfortunately, I had to throw out this box of cereal because despite the fairly low carb count, it spiked my blood sugar as if I'd eaten a piece of cake. Coconut has never had this effect on me, and I trust that Julian Bakery is listing their ingredients correctly, because I have no had problems with their products before. I have to assume it was the palm starch. 'Starch' should've tipped me off, but I've eaten stuff with the same amount of carbs as this no problem. So if you're diabetic, do be wary.Another thing to consider is that 30 grams is really quite a small portion. I weighed it out and was like, "Eh? That's it?"Which would be fine if it was really filling, but I still needed something else to supplement the meal.I think Julian Bakery has created a product that is superb in regards to texture, and I applaud them that -- just make sure that you *really* like coconuts and eat to your meter if you're diabetic. I'll go back to enjoying roasted nuts with milk as my cereal substitute.

Low Carb Alternative for Cereal!
I was hoping for a low carb breakfast cereal to have once in awhile and even with the $11 price tag for a "box", I was willing to give it a try! Upon arrival, I was instantly disappointed. What? A thin foil envelope of cereal? This was a very high price point for the product. However, I am updating my review because I want to point out that this product is sold for $8.99 on their website with a discounted price for shipping on multiple items. That price puts it right in line with a very fair price point. If you go through Amazon, you pay for the convenience and that's okay as well! It was time to taste test. I got out the measuring cup and poured my first serving. Looked okay, smelled okay. I'm afraid it was downhill after that. I personally did not have a taste for this particular product. My love for coconut must not be that deep! I understand we all have our own tastes and some are acquired. It is a good low carb alternative for those that like coconut and want a cereal type of food to add into their diet.

I really like the taste
I really like the taste. The most difficult meal for me on alow carb diet is breakfast. I always feel like I there's nothing to eat. U don't want to eat eggs everyday. So having guilt free cereal option is amazing. I'm also a coconut lover so that might be why I enjoy this cereal so much. Most of the reviews I read mentioned the high price. If you compare it to regular high carb cereals, it is. But to be fair, a whole coconut cost over $2 at the grocery store and I know it will take more than almost 4 of them to get that box after it's dehydrated or whatever process they use. I would not give it less stars because of price. I review a product base on quality, taste, or effectiveness. People already know prices before they look at reviews. The information they need in a review should not have anything to do with price. I rely on reviews a lot for the stuff I buy so I like to give honest reviews as well.

Love it, but too pricey!
Quite enjoy this with unsweetened almond and/or coconut milk, however, I'm only giving a 3 star review due to the cost. It's priced high, so I won't buy it again. I just like trying new low carb/paleo food items. If, however, I find this cereal at a reasonable price, I would buy it again.
