This is the 3rd of these I have purchased and I like the things obviously, they work well and are small enough to mount easily. 100% satisfied customer.

I bought this radio to be a dual bander for amateur radio. Opening this option up is as easy as entering a code on the microphone. The reason I wanted this particular one was for the programming port in front. Extremely CHIRPable. Speaker has very good output. Perfect for the Prius!

I've had this radio for a month, and here are my thoughts: * The microphone is terrible. I've opened up the voice hole and it us much better, but I'm ordering an oem Kenwood mic. * The power out is as advertised. * It is tiny. It's as small as a handset * Chirp is great to program this radio * Able to use as a pure GMRS radio, or open up ham bands. *as a GMRS radio, GMRS channels come fixed. You will have to program in your repeaters tones. * as an opened up Ham radio, you still have access to GMRS channels, but also 2m and 70cm ham bands. I have an amateur extra ham license AND a GMRS license, so mine is opened and programmed for both. After install, I was dissatisfied with bad reports of muffled buzzy sound, so I opened up the mic, and now don't have people telling me how bad I sound. I will soon replace it with a Kenwood mic.

QYT KT-8900 25W GMRS Mobile Radio is a good buy. Get a good antenna though.

I had to wrestle with it a little programming the repeaters. You need to program the receiving repeater and transmitting frequencies on the same channel so they work in conjunction with each other.

Sadly after two units with the exact same issue, the microphone not working unless the cord is held cocked off at the unit, it’s a one star review and a return. These are actually really awesome little units. If you’re familiar with inexpensive Baofeng handhelds this is practically the same thing except it’s more powerful. It would transmit well, but the microphone wouldn’t put any voice through. Even tested a friends mic and cable hoping it wouldn’t be the unit. No luck. Assuming they just got a bad batch of these as my friends works awesome.

Got this radio and it worked out the box perfectly but was missing the knobs luckily my old radio knows fit

El radio es de muy buenos materiales y funciona bien, pero me sentí muy decepcionado puesto que solo puedo transmitir en frecuencias GMRS en UHF, puedo escuchar todas las demas en VHFy UHF pero no puedo transmitir, muy triste por que gasté $2000 pesos en el radio y la verdad no me dí cuenta de ello hasta que pasó el tiempo para regresarlo.
