I really don't understand the bad reviews. I have been running one in my truck since 2018 and it's now 2025. the thing is still going strong. My guess would be improper installation, bad swr or undervoltage the radio by trying to run a 50w rig on a cigarette lighter outlet.

I have three of these in my trucks, they seem to work really good I'm running them all on repeaters. And you can program them with chirp!

After using the radio in my shack for about two months I noticed that I wasn’t getting good signal reports from repeaters that I was full quieting on so hooked up my swr and power meter and wow the radio had gone from just over 50 watts on 2m to less than 5 and from 45 on 70cm to 2.5 swr we’re at 1.2 about the middle of the 2m band and 1.4 on the middle of the 70 cm side. So not sure what the deal is with this brand but this is the second unit I bought from this brand that stopped transmitting after about 2 months should have known better for the price of the radio. So I had to change my 5 star review to a 1 very frustrating. Great radio for the price absolutely worth the money. Works great easy to use and program. Solid build great reception. No background noise. Highly recommended.

The GMRS radio listed works fine for GMRS as designed. It can monitor other bands as well but since it was designed as a GMRS radio it will not transmit on other bands. Yep thatis how it was designed so no problem there.I just wish the knobs stayed on the radio better. Small Compact does its job as designed.

I bought this radio to be a dual bander for amateur radio. Opening this option up is as easy as entering a code on the microphone. The reason I wanted this particular one was for the programming port in front. Extremely CHIRPable. Speaker has very good output. Perfect for the Prius!

Fits perfectly in my 2004 Yukon shelf without any modification. Power is great with antenna. Perfect for off-road adventurers or when SHTF. Be prepaRED for 2024.

The radio performs the basic functions outlined in the description with the exception that the output power is listed as either 15 or 5 watts in the manual. I would have given it a higher rating but the included CD programming software and a downloaded copy from the QYT website both have programming errors that prevent them from loading or running on any of my personal computers. Be advised some of the functions and parameters of this radio's operation can only be changed or enabled using the software. Also the PL 2303 chip inside the programming cable is either faulty or has been corrupted.
