Really good value
It doesn't have an adjustable zoom, but I'm very happy with the optics and the feel of the focuser. I ordered one a couple of years ago, and wanted to leave a good review while I was visiting the product listing.

Good quality scope, very useful, good value
I like this product a lot and use it often. It smells like a petroleum product out of the box and it took weeks for the smell to dissipate. Something about the plastic or a solvent used lingers and stinks up the room where the scope sits between uses. The smell also transfers to one's hands when used. If one has a fear of solvents and the biological affect on a human or animal etc. do not buy this product. Other than than the smell it is a very good product and a good value. I use it often for target practice and see very sharp fine details at 20 to 30 feet. It is also fine for longer distances.

I took a chance and it works
I live in a highly polluted part of the country. Ursa's Major and Minor are a chore to pick out with the bare eye around here. Unlike other areas of the country where the stars light up the night. We depend on street lights to see our way around.I was able to see quite a few stars with this monocular. I was also able to see planes fly overhead at night. You won't distinguish colors or call signs that high up, but you will be able to see it's shape. During the day I was able to see ravens, robins and a woodpecker two city blocks away.Personal nitpicks. The eyecup is too big and not soft or flush with my eye socket. Personal adjustments with my handhold had to be made. Focusing took about 5-10 minutes to figure out because the included instructions leave something to be desired. There very miniscule blue tint around the outmost edge during daylight viewing. It's not a hinderance, but it's there. There's way too much fiddling going on to get a good picture. If it's moving by the time you get everything lined up.....it's GONE. It wasn't my purpose when I made this purchase and it still isn't.All in all this is going to be fun on my upcoming nature walk.Addendum.....After practicing tracking birds in the yard for an hour the lense you view through is beginning to form a cloud on one edge and oozing an oily substance. The cloud is noticeable when bringing the monocular up to the eye and doesn't effect the overall viewing experience. I'm beginning to think the fun won't last long. That box on the utility pole is approximately 50feet away and I can clearly view the words "Western Electric" without any obstruction from the little cloud that has formed. I checked for distance on a sunny day and was able to see the weathervane on top of a school building over the tree line 4 blocks away. The wind is blowing North by Northwest the bird on top and letters weren't very crisp and sure at this distance and the field of view is not sharp at this range and you need a very steady hand/tripod. Field of view is much sharper within the range of 7feet to 1 city block. It's NOT night vision. It can be used at night as long as there's some lighting in the area. It's NOT a zoom. It's NOT 16x's magnification. It's more in the range of a 10x's magnification when compared to a 12x's scope my neighbor owns, a Nikon zoom lense, and a cellphone. Hope that helps someone looking for a casual device at a low price that works pretty well.Tip...For those concerned about fussing with the two-handed focus.....there's a sweet spot in this trick. Focus for as far as you can see clearly. Drop the monocular down. Pick another location and aim the monocular......allow your eyeball to make the adjustments. Something handy I learned in two days.

Perfect for my 8 year old nephew!
A few weeks ago, I noticed my 8 year old nephew struggling to focus a pair of binoculars while at his grandma's house. I remember what a hassle that was for me when I was his age. It was so frustrating, I almost never used binoculars (didn't know I had ADHD until well into adulthood). When I saw this easy to focus telescope, I decided to take a chance and get it for him. It was so inexpensive I really didn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised by how solid it feels (not flimsy & cheap like a toy). I honestly know jack about optics, but when I looked out of my 15th floor window with the telescope I thought it looked pretty darn good! (A friend who does know about optics also said it was quite good.)The best part is, the kid LOVES it! The twist-to-focus feature is so intuitive it eliminates distraction & frustration for curious, intelligent little kids (and their aunties!).Perfect for kids!

Absolute garbage - not even worth the $13.99
The eyepiece of the monocular was chipped. Now perhaps one could attribute that to shipping, but further evidence points towards subpar construction. The monocular is barely secured or padded within its box. The box is riddled with spelling errors and the instruction manual (more a slip of paper) is worse. The strap for item was thrown inside the box, separated from its unopened plastic bag. The monocular appears to match the pictures on the listing, but closer inspection shows minor components in different locations - even from pictures provided by other users. Lastly, looking through the section of eyepiece that was not cracked, the view made the sunny day look cloudy and the zoom/focus was barely useful. In sum, it is clear this is a piece of shoddy and haphazard construction. Even if it's foreign made, any reputable international company would take care to ensure standards of quality (making the same product each time, no spelling errors, etc.). Sure the price is attractive, but if the point is to be able to see off into the distance, chances are this piece of garbage will barely work and you'll have done nothing but wasted time. What you're getting here is a dollar store knick-knack that's better suited as a toddler's play thing than an actual instrument for observation. Literally. Garbage.

Really good especially for the price
I showed it to some hunting friends of mine and they were impressed with how well it worked, especially given the price point. They're talking about getting it just to have something quick to use.For me, I just wanted to use it to look at things at work in top stock. Now I can look at things clear accross the garden center I work in.It was bigger than I thought it would be. However it seems pretty well constructed and durable. The string that you can it by is pretty flimsy. I'll probably get something better for it.
