While it sounds like you may have some other issue causing premature failure. Maybe an overvoltage on your board or something. You do have (i think it's) a 3 year warranty. against defects. Been running mine with zero issues.

Since this is a DRAM Chip, the Cache will drop to it's original value each time you turn off and on your machine. Now, for Non-Cache having SSD's, the Cache memory info will stay there on the chip indefinitely until you purposefully get rid of it.
