Q: What size batteries for remote?

I Don’t know. My Rockville came incomplete and was missing the remote. So I have never been able to use mine. I was very disappointed by the support or lack of support for this product

Q: Why does it not stay paired via bt? Is it just garbage?

I had a Thonet and Vander Dunn Sound Bar with wireless sub-woofer. The sub-woofer actually had it's own extendable antenna but would still cut in and out. It was only about 14 feet from sound bar. The company replaced it once but still same problem. They first told me it had to do with interference from other Bluetooth devices. But shutting down my computer, Bluetooth mouse, etc., etc., was not an option. The remote control finally broke and luckily I had an Asurion warranty. They reimbursed me with gift card. I'm waiting for the new model from Thonet and Vander Dunn. Maybe it will have a better bt signal.
