Six and a Half Year Review
Yes, six and a half years ago I purchased this fan here on Amazon. I never considered posting a review of it before because, well--it's a fan. It spins around and blows air, as fans do. Then the other night, as I was researching some other electronic appliances for purchase and trying to figure out how well they hold up over time, it dawned on me that this Lasko product deserved a positive review that would hopefully alleviate concerns that others might have on buying such an item sight unseen. The fan was purchased to move the air around in a stuffy upstairs bedroom, while also providing white noise for sleeping. It excels in both respects, although I'd caution that one man's "white noise" is another man's "annoyance"--the unit is hardly silent, and if you plan on using the highest (of three) fan settings you're going to notice the noise. Even on the lowest speed I can see how it could disturb those who prefer dead silence as their background noise. For me this is a positive feature (I struggle to sleep without that steady drone), but if you value silence above all else this is ~not~ the right product for you. Set-up was easy and self-explanatory; I can say this with certainty even after all these years because it does require breaking back down for periodic cleaning. The unit is fairly bulky, particularly regarding the base plate which does a great job of stabilizing the fan even on high speed, but does so at the cost of taking up a sizeable amount of floor space. Fortunately, the included remote control (which has worked flawlessly since purchase with, to the best of my recollection, only two battery changes) means that the fan can be tucked into a corner without concern over being able to reach the controls, with the notable caveat that you cannot remotely change between oscillating and stationary. What I want to stress most of all, though, is that this fan has had ~zero~ mechanical issues over the six and a half years I've owned it. And we're not talking occasional use here, either--between keeping the airflow moving during the day and providing white noise at night, it has been running ~far~ more often than not over these years. During the summer the fan is generally left running (on high) for literally 5-6 MONTHS at a time--not "every night for months", but literally 24 hours a day, every day, for 5-6 months!! I'll be the first to admit that the construction ~feels~ flimsy when you first unpack and assemble it, but the results don't lie: this fan has been unbelievably durable. And not just mechanically, either--even after at least a dozen dis-assemblies for cleaning, the plastic clips which hold the plastic casing in place have held up beautifully as well (I distinctly remember thinking during the first assembly that there was no way those things would last--I was very wrong!). I cannot comment on how well the timer function works as I obviously haven't used it, and as alluded to the blades will pick up a good amount of gunk over time which requires regular wipe-downs (as any bladed fan will). Overall, though, if you're not scared off by the size of the unit and don't mind the steady droning of a fan while sleeping or going about your day, I cannot recommend this product more highly. If it ever ~does~ break down, I will gladly purchase another to replace it!

DON’T LISTEN TO BAD REVIEWS. THIS IS A GOOD FAN.
I was hesitant to order it because people had bad reviews on it but I took a chance. At first I thought I had made a mistake because the remote control wasn’t working well, but come to find out my husband hadn’t put in fresh batteries. Once he changed them to new batteries, it worked great. I’m used to having the hum of a fan to fall asleep and this one is perfect. It’s not too noisy though it’s just right. It works really smoothly and has 3 speeds. All the speeds work well. The air flow on the highest speed is surprisingly strong. Not like a “vornado” but good enough without the “vornado” price. I needed a fan that wasn’t too tall as I like to have the fan air hit my face while lying in bed and this one is perfect. The lowest height it adjusts to hits at just the right height as my pillow on my bedside. I recently had surgery and couldn’t be getting out of bed to be turning a fan on and off, so the remote control functionality of this fan is very practical. I’m very happy with it and glad I got it.

3 Fans, 3 Month Review,
We ordered 3 of these. Let me start by saying I don't regret it and would order them again. This is a solid fan at a very good price. The assembly could have been easier. Personally, I had no trouble with it. But, what other reviewers say is true about the instructions being awful. My biggest problem with assembly was attaching the front grill to the fans, but that was very minor. It's just tricky lining up the tabs. The lights on it are especially bright at night. I ended up using a few layers of masking tape to dim them because my wife wasn't happy about it. (between us, I didn't care, not a big deal to me). The fan does what a fan is supposed to do and puts out plenty of air. The remote (the reason we got it) is just "LOL" as another reviewer put it. The remote has to be pointing STRAIGHT at the panel, with the panel FACING the remote. And the range is about 2 feet to be reliable. I mean, that's fine for a bed side fan that doesn't move but, eh ... You get what you pay for. It suits my needs. You just need to keep that in mind when positioning it. The fan is, as mentioned in other reviews, very light. That's great for moving it around. Also, keep in mind that weight isn't exactly something you need in a fan since most folks don't move tower fans around a lot or put them in places they can be knocked over. It doesn't mean that this isn't a quality fan. Just mobile. We have 1 fan in a spot that our 100lb dog crashes into a lot (he's dumb, but it's by his pet bed) and it hasn't fallen over yet. Now, my big complaint. This is important for people that sleep with the fan on all night. This is not mentioned in other reviews, either. And I KNOW it's not isolated because I have 3 of these fans (identical, same order) and they all do it. When the oscillating feature is used, there will be a grinding plastic sound every few seconds. What is annoying is that it's not consistent. We run these fans all night while we sleep, and sometimes it starts right away, sometimes it starts after 3 hours, sometimes it behaves and stays quiet. This has been happening since we first got them. No one night is like the one before. You have to be woken up and turn it off when it starts. Due to it being random, I have yet to be able to find exactly what's grinding in there so I can break it down and grease it or something. Irritating. I give it 4 stars overall, considering the price. Would have been five if it didn't randomly start squeaking while oscillating.

Works great and very quiet
I bought this fan for my Mother, and she loves it. It is very quiet, even when on high. Everything works great on it so far, it was easy to put togther, and the price was about right for what you get. People have told Mom and me it is a futuristic and stylish looking fan, which I guess is a plus. Don't know if Mom will ever use the timer function, but it is a nice energy saving feature for those who would use it. I also like placement of where the operation buttons are located on the fan, on the front under the blades where it is much easier to adjust than on the back or on the fan motor itself. One note about the remote (or two). It does not come with AAA batteries, and the batteries I put in it are not new, so I can't tell if my having trouble getting the fan to respond to the remote is because the remote signal is very narrow or the weak batteries I installed. One more thing. My mother is 76 and has very arthritic hands, which caused her pain when trying to press the remote buttons. I had no problem myself (other than a very narrow remote signal path or weak AAA batteries) pressing the buttons, but the fan did not consistently respond to the remote. Just something to think about if you are in the same situation. Mom just uses the front buttons on the fan, which are pretty large and labeled cleary and are very easy to press. The remote is not a deal breaker even if it turns out fresh batteries don't help (I am going to test that out and update my review afterwards). I'm thinking I might get one of these to use at the church where I play my drums, it would be just what the doctor ordered since I sometimes forget to turn off my fan, so the timer on this one would be perfect to keep the Pastor's wife off me.

Love My Lasko
I was given this same style Lasko fan 13 years ago as a gift, and I have used it since for at least five months out of the year and ran it pretty much day and night to help augment and substitute for a portable air conditioner in my bedroom. I bought this new model because I was fearful the older one might give out--and it has been such a help and comfort that I didn't want to have to go without for any length of time. The new one is just as nice; maybe the base isn't quite as heavy as the older model and it isn't whisper quiet on the lowest setting like the older one--but I like it very much. It was really easy to put together ( no tools required), but I would advise anyone to really carefully read the instructions. When you go to install the pole into the base, you have to twist it as you place it in the base so that it will stay secure when you have the fan all put together. Also, it makes it easier to adjust the height if you place your knee on the base as you work with the adjustment nut to lower or raise the height of the fan--and hold the small pole tightly if you already have the fan motor installed! The only complaint I have are the silly plastic tabs you have to snap in when you are performing the last step in installing the front grille to the back one; it took me longer to figure how to get that done than it did to assemble the whole fan. I must say my older fan is just the same way; it helped me to have the fan raised up to a comfortable height and I could work my way around it; I hope I don't have to do that part anymore! I still give the fan five stars though, IF it lasts the way my old one has. It works really well, the remote is really nice--and it really pushes out the air. If it gives me trouble, I will edit this review.

But because of how easy it is to assemble
I'm guessing for this kind of price this is the most 'basic' I can get out of a fan, so I'll say it's just an okay fan. It didn't match my expectations but I've lived in a country where fans were a basic, necessary commodity so now I realize maybe the standards are a bit different. It's a lightweight, easy-to-assemble fan, took me about 5 minutes to get it up and running. But because of how easy it is to assemble, it makes you wonder if it will stay upright without problems. The tube is just pushed into the base and requires not much effort to pull out so I was a bit afraid if it might fall once the fan starts running, but nothing has happened yet and it stays sturdy on the ground, and for that I am happy. The whole head of the fan is made out of plastic. Since the fan blades are made out of plastic, don't expect a lot of windpower to come from it. The plastic covers have a weird clunky locking 'mechanism' but they fit well and look like they'll stay locked together for a long time. I'm a bit worried about the motor, though, as what I want from this fan is its number 3 setting (the lesser settings aren't windy enough for me) and I don't really care about the noise but I feel like it's gonna pant from exhaustion soon enough.. But it's doing well, for now. If you're not too picky about a fan and just want something decent and easy to assemble, this is for you. But if you're like me and a bit picky with a fan's parts, settings, and durability, I'm afraid your quest does not end here. Update: I move the fan wherever I stay for a long time around the house and the stand really pisses me off every time it dislodges from the base. There's no way to make them stick together decently, as the installation is basically you just stabbing the pole to the base and voila. Besides that the height adjuster thing is sensitive. Sometimes id accidentally bump into or hold the fan and the adjusting pole just drops down. Again, good for the price if it just stays in one corner forever, not for picky, constantly transferring people like me

Works fine after the upright was replaced by us to make its seating in the base sturdier.
Works well but completely plastic connectors holding the stand together makes it feel 'rickety,' like it could fall apart at any time; in fact after a few hours of use ours was starting to lean to one side where the lower stand and 'extension' piece are connected - it's duct taped together now to assure it doesn't come apart during the night. There's also a rattling noise we can't locate within the fan mechanism. The air circulation is nice and the remote is handy but I'm glad to have purchased it at a discounted price. [Edit: We replaced the metal upright with half of a standard expandable metal curtain rod; after taking the plastic spacer out of the base it fit perfectly and the fan no longer leans or feels rickety (the original upright had a more narrow end that fit into the base and on ours it was not long enough to insert as far as needed for it to be sturdy.) No problem with airflow. Star rating and title updated to reflect that thanks to materials we already had on hand we were able to make it perfect!) Now if we could only find the remote...

Es un buen ventilador
Es un buen ventilador, pero es un poco chico y por lo mismo, no genera tanto aire. Está bien para un área pequeña o bien, tenerlo cerca. Los materiales están bien al igual que su control remoto.
