Works as expected. Was able to track cables from attic to destination. Also helped verify proper assembly of custom built cables.

Very simple to use. I'm not an expert, but it was an inexpensive way for me to identify all of the cables in a new home. It verifies all 8 conductors. I recommend.

Like the myriad similar testers offered, this one works fine for non-installed cables where you can see both ends of the cable at the same time, but it is less useful for testing installed cables where it's not possible to observe the LEDs on both parts of the tester simultaneously, because it's necessary to see both units in order to compare the LED indications, as required for some test modes. Still, it's an inexpensive way to check for mis-connected conductors in un-installed cables, and to partially test installed cables. As far as I can tell, it does not test for any signal quality aspects, only for proper connections and continuity.

This item works as advertised but low signal at long cable

I needed a replacement for my cable tester after the one I had been using for years had a failure on pin 1. Since I had a job coming up quickly, I needed a replacement immediately. I ordered this one and received it in 2 days. Put it to use immediately.

Easy to use and works to detect signals. It will tell if you have all cables connected correctly or if the connection has an error. Cons, it will not tell you what is the problem is or the wires that are the source of the problem.

Works fine to check regular cables ..a toolbox tool worth having when needed.

Works fine so far after limited use shortly after purchase. If any issues come up I'll update my rating.

Very Good Tester, I have used mine many time and had good results

Tester seems to always shows connection between 1,2 and sometimes 3 on longer cable runs even with remote disconnected. Won't do so with no cables plugged in. Test fine with shorter cables. Erratic results on longer runs. Ended up no relying on it after wasting my time trying to track down faults reported by this thing. Got perfect 1GB and 2.5GB connection despite results from this tester.

It appears flimsy but does the job very well. I should have bought this years ago, makes putting on the ends so much easier.
