World's only fully task-based curriculum for Korean
This is by far the best resource to date for teaching Korean. Unfortunately, most approaches to teaching Korean are grammar-based, utilizing the grammar-translation method, and in a classroom there is so much focus on accuracy. This book is formed by the latest theories of second language acquisition, and most importantly, sets learners up to perform actual, REAL-WORLD tasks that they need to be able to do in real life! Imagine a task where you have to write a text message response to a friend, buy a cell phone in Korea, make a phone call, or order food. FINALLY a textbook for Korean that is communicative and that is in line with the field of second language acquisition and teaching. Bravo Dr. Kim and colleagues!

Excellent modern vocabuary and exercises. Would be good to use with a tutor
I purchased this book out of curiosity -- already possessing many Korean books -- and was not disappointed. The vocabulary focuses on a lot of areas of modern interest:Chapter 1: Posts on a Course WebsiteCh. 2: EmailsCh. 3: Text MessagesCh 4: Social Media PostsCh. 5: Phone ConversationsCh. 6: PostcardsCh. 7: BlogsCh. 8: VlogsEvery chapter has wonderful grammar notes that start the chapter, a list of helpful vocabulary and expressions one can use in exercises that are related to the chapter's topic, and then various student exercises designed to be interactive with a teacher or tutor in a classroom-like environment. There is also ample space provided to actually write the exercises in the book (I recommend writing in pencil, so you can erase and improve your responses.).The book is definitely aimed at a high beginner or low intermediate Korean learner, so if you are just beginning, I recommend going through a full Korean grammar book series (e.g. Talk to Me in Korean (TTMIK), Darakwon, Billy Go, are three publishers that have excellent 10-volume, 3-volume, and 3-volume Korean grammar series, respectively, that focus on Korean grammar, but also teach vocabulary and pronunciation.) My personal favorite is the 10-volume TTMIK set, but the 3-volume Darakwon set is also a must. Billy Go's explanations are superb, and as a native English speaker who learned Korean from scratch, Billy Go offers good tips for us fellow English speakers learning Korean. In summary, this is an excellent book that you will like to have in your Korean language library, even if you are still at the beginner stage. I really loved the ample vocabulary and expressions taught in each chapter, plus the specific grammar focus. All of the chapter topics are relevant in today's modern world of communication.
