Has given my dog the freedom she deserves!
I don't often write Amazon reviews but I agonized about his purchase so I decided to share my experience for others who may be similarly hesitant to use an e-collar. My 2-year old rescue dog looks like a lab but acts like a lab. She has a really strong prey drive. I used R+ to train recall with a long line for more than a year. I tried all kinds of treats and lots of verbal praise. Seh is not really motivated at al by play. He recall was OK unless there was any kind of prey. She would then lose her mind and would entirely ignore me and, sometimes, pull me over. I was kind of resolved to have her on leash forever. As a hiker, this was tough because holding onto a leash is tough on rocky terrain. Also, she often seemed mopey before walks. I would let her smell A LOT but she often just seemed depressed. She was fine physically. I decided to try an e-collar as a last resort. The deal I made with myself is that is cowered when I tried to put it on or showed signs of fear of me, or if she became reactive in any way, I would drop it.There are two types of negative reinforcement--escape conditioning and avoidance conditioning. In escape conditioning, you use a stronger shock and the dog recalls to avoid this, kind of like driving near the speed limit to avoid a speeding ticket. In escape conditioning, you se a weaker shock and use it prior to recall and the dog recalls to make the shock stop, like putting on a seat belt to make the seat belt alarm stop. My trainer used the former.Initially, my dog was compliant but seemed incredibly subdued. she had been shciked perhaps 4 - 5 times over a 3 week period She stuck t me like glue but didn;t really explore. My trainer said to give it time and I did. Fast fq

Security
It works extremely well. It is easy to use once you take the time to follow the directions and get guidance on when and how to use PROPERLY by a QUALIFIED dog trainer. It is a tool to teach the dog a new language for things that he already knows. It is not a tool for punishment but COMMUNICATION. Please use WISELY and SPARINGLY!

Worth every penny.
Works pretty well, only you have to put it up to at least 15 before it can be felt. I put it on my forearm and tried it, so that's how I know.It does get the dog's attention, and that's what I bought it for.I was given the first one when my dog went through training. And it worked pretty well, so I ended up buying a second so that I would always have a backup. When the first one stopped working properly, I contacted the company and they were very quick to send out a replacement and apologized for the inconvenience. Their customer service team is outstanding!

Don't Like Shocking, but...
It actually doesn't hurt...I always try it on my own arm before putting on the dog. Don't like how the prongs kind of poke into the dog's neck, but I always remove the collar when we're not with her or she's not in training. Our first one stopped working, but customer service was excellent and replaced it right away. I wish it weren't such a pain to turn on an off...I get why it's made that way though. I feel that people should really be trained on how to use this before buying it and using it.

Trusted Brand, dependable/reliable
If you're looking for an ecollar to train your dog, you won't be disappointed with this brand. We made the mistake of buying a cheaper version, and very quickly learned why the "good/trusted brands" were so much more expensive. Save yourself the time and headache, just purchase this one. It's has gentle (not sharp) stimulation, reliable and effective. Remote is ergonomically designed to allow trainer ability to respond quickly, and easily operate and change settings without having to look down at the remote. Stop looking, just buy this one.

BEWARE!!!! WILL CAUSE BURNS!!!!
I first purchased this collar set as a back-up for the training my two loveable, quirky, caring, and gentle Golden Retrievers were receiving as service dogs for both myself and my daughter. There aren't enough words to describe how horrified I am at what occurred.I had placed the collars on to test them out, to see if the dogs could feel the vibration when I pushed the buttons. They both reacted by turning and looking at me. I took the collars off and forgot about them. Then, months later we noticed a behavior that we wanted to correct that was really nothing, picking things up and throwing them in the air, full force so they could run zoomies underneath the falling papers or whatever they had tossed. I tested each collar on myself before putting them on my dogs. But after a little while, I had to deploy the correction. My 3 year old golden screamed. I immediately took off the collar as he was whimpering. See photo's attached. My gentle golden was horribly burned. His fur was singed and blackened. His skin bright cherry red. His skin also bubbled up and eventually scabbed over(this is the stage we are in now). We had to excise the burnt fur and some of the loose skin that was falling off.I tried to get in touch with the seller and received absolutely no answer I tried to get a refund but, no such luck.Keep in mind, these injuries occurred the very first time I hit the button. The setting was the lowest. This is a DANGEROUS, HARMFUL PRODUCT. It should be PULLED FROM THE SHELVES.ZERO STARS IF I COULD.NEGATIVE 2000 STARS FOR THE PAIN MY DOG WENT THROUGH.

Effective
Have bought two for use on my German Shepherds. Works well and does not cause them harm. Also has a great night light on it for going out in the dark. Had good distance, I use it on my 5 acre property and can recall the dogs without a problem. Battery life is good. Lasts all day without a problem.
