The best model of angle grinder
All the major hardware stores don’t carry this model which has the dial to control the speeds. This the best and easiest model to use and the speed dial makes things so much easier

A good quality grinder/polisher.
We used it to polish granite tile edges on the lowest speed, 2000 RPM and it worked very well. I have to admit that I almost damaged the tool by mounting it so I could hold the tiles while polishing. I clamped it to a table and put too much pressure on the plastic part of the body causing the tool to make noise and even stall a couple times before I mounted it differently so that clamping pressure was put on the metal housing near the wheel end. That worked well, no more issues and the tool seems still be sound despite my efforts to destroy it. Another well designed tool from Makita!

Excellent Power, Nice to Use.
After about a year of use, I really like this grinder. It replaces an older 4", that I used for years, but it finally wore out the gears. This replaces it with more power, speed control, larger disk, and it's not really heavier. I really like it. If there is one suggestion, there is a pause between when you move the switch and when it acts. That keeps getting me - as I think I have not positioned the switch correct, so I turn it off again, but it starts spinning then stops. Not the best behavior. Have to turn it on and wait a couple seconds, then it starts up and does a great job. Just something niggly that I takes getting used to. Overall, I love the tool.

This things is solid.
I bought this in order to convert it into a high speed paint remover. So far its been working awesome. The biggest problem I had was finding a way to do it that was cost effective. Most backer pads are made for orbital sanders not grinders so the arbor sizes don't match. However STADEA makes a 5" hook and loop backer pad that fits this thing perfectly. That coupled with my dustless technologies dust shroud and hepa vac means I can take off a lot of paint in a short period of time with very little to no mess. The one thing I did in order to improve the effectiveness of the dust shroud was drill holes into the STADEA backer pad that lined up with the 5 hole hook and loop sander discs I had. So far I have been very happy with this set up. And the fact that this thing is variable speed makes a world of difference. It would be next to impossible to do a good job at paint removal with a grinder turning 10,000 RPM's, I turn this down to its lowest setting and its about as fast as I would want in order to be able to control it.However I like the fact I can crank it up if I want to grind concrete, cut rebar, or do any of a number of other things with this thing. I highly recommend it.

Runs smooth. Handles well.
I already have one just like it so I knew what to expect. It works fine. Missing parts but I have extra of everything so win win. Because everyone is always asking for comparisons I have two Milwaukee rat tails that I love. They are neck and neck except the Milwaukee's are not variable speed and the Makitas are chunkier. I had a metabo but got rid of it. IMO the metabo is like a semi truck and ones I have are like sports cards both have plenty of power but handle differently. IMO

Defective Product-Bad Buy
Grinder is not genuine overheats after 5 minutes of use at speed # 3. Bought two of at the same time, both not working. Seller refuse to replace.

Variable speed grinder makes a world of difference
I was a bit hesitant to spend the extra money for the variable speed but I am glad I did. Grinding and cutting concrete block killed my older Makita grinder but this runs the wheels/blades at a nice easy speed with no seeming loss of power. Highly recommend.

Fast shipping and excellent packaging. The Leatherman tool feels very premium and sturdy.
Super Joint System prevents tool kickback and gear damages caused by accidental wheel binding. Improved 12 AMP motor design for increased output power in a more compact tool. Larger and improved carbon brush material for tool life. Electronic limiter stops the motor and prevents accidental motor overload and burnout. \"Tool-less\" wheel guard adjustment for easy clamping. Labyrinth construction seals and protects the motor and bearings from dust and debris by creating a complex set of channels. Protective zig zag varnish seals armature and field from contaminants and reduces heat.
