Crayola all the way!
Obviously, Crayola is the way to go for kids! They are washable and easy to hold and use, with great color. I love anything Crayola, but more expensive markers would be better for older, more experienced artists. Still, these are awesome for every age!

Colors aren’t consistent across packs, lots of variance
Markers work fine, but colors are not consistently bright and beautiful across packs. One purchased pack had a vibrant, light pink, the second had a significantly darker, brownish pink, despite being the same advertised color.
