Zojirushi CV-JAC50XB: A Game-Changing Upgrade for Effortless and Efficient Hot Water Management
We've recently upgraded to the Zojirushi CV-JAC50XB from the older CV-DCC50XT model and are thrilled with the improvements. The new C14 power inlet (the standard plug type used for many electronics) is a welcome change from the old magnetic connection, which was easy to lose. This model is slightly shorter, which surprisingly feels like it requires less frequent water refills, and the addition of a red ball in the water gauge is a clever, helpful touch. What impresses me the most is the reduced boiling time; it boils 5 litres of water roughly 10 minutes quicker than the CV-DCC50XT, in just about 30 minutes, which is a significant improvement. The matte finish on the upper lid not only looks sleek but is also more resistant to scratches, adding to the unit's durability. The design tweaks continue with the removal of Japanese characters on the lid lock, simplifying the interface. The LCD display, while not backlit, features an orange background that offers great contrast, making it easier to read without the concern of a backlight wearing out. Another practical feature is the handle that can now be parked at the back of the unit, securing it firmly in place. With a delay timer that can extend up to 16 hours before reboiling, this boiler is also perfect for those who frequently take weekend trips, ensuring you have hot water ready exactly when you need it, while further saving energy. However, I personally keep it set to maintain a constant temperature of 195°F at all times. Although only time will test its longevity, if it performs anything like our old model, which is still going strong after nearly a decade, we're in good hands. Remember, using filtered water is the key to maintaining these machines. In summary, the Zojirushi CV-JAC50XB is a fantastic upgrade filled with thoughtful improvements, combining functionality with durability. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enhance their kitchen with a reliable water boiler.

Our last Zojirushi boiler lasted >12 years
Love this water boiler. It's pricey, but you pay for quality and durabilityI'll be honest: We didn't always use filtered water in our previous Zojirushi boiler, purchased in 2011, but it still lasted a good long time before the plastic in the lid finally degraded to the point of falling apart.A particularly good feature of this boiler is its temperature control. While they promote it in terms of proper temperatures for varieties of tea (which I do drink a lot of), our main issue is we live at altitude. We *need* to set the boiler to less than 200F or else the water will boil off.As far as energy savings go, our main interest isn't turning the unit on or off on a timer, but rather just how much power it uses while idle, and it really isn't much, not with the vacuum insulation. Anyway, here's hoping this new one lasts another decade or so.

Instant hot water
I love these kinds of products and especially this brand. You can have instant hot water if your boil ahead of time. The water warmer is great. I keep mine at 195 Fahrenheit. It boils to 212F and goes back down and keep it warm. I tried the vacuum, it’s still great but my dad says he wants constant hot water. So in around 3 hours it would go down from boiling to 160-170 F which is still not bad. I’m not sure what the hybrid does (not sure if it’s referring to warmer and vacuum or something else), but this is a much bigger surface area than what I have bought previously. I hope this one last more than 5 years because the previously one lasted about 3 years. Finally this is a great water boiler/warmer/vacuum if you’re constantly need hot water and don’t want to wait 5-10 minutes to boil water on the stove top or use one of those electric kettles.

As grandpa said: “Buy right and cry once”
I hesitated for a long time before splurging to get this boiler/heater. “Too expensive” I moaned. Finally, at holiday time I broke down and bought it. Just wow! I love it. I normally keep the temp set at 195* but when I want to make drip coffee, I can bump it up to 208* and it will be ready in just a few minutes. I especially like the “slow” output mode which allows you to slowly release the hot water over coffee grounds in a paper filter setup. We also consume a lot of green and dark teas, and this unit is always at the ready to brew a single or multiple cups. It is built like a tank, and is handsome to look at on the counter. Its footprint is not at all excessive either.
