BOSCH OSL026 Starlock Oscillating Multi-Tool Accessory 26 pc. Set

This is a great collection of oscillating tool blades and sanding pad for someone looking for a starter set. It comes with a sampling of most of the blades you are likely to use for typical jobs when just starting out. There are two ¾ inch multipurpose blades that are great for plunge cuts in wood or drywall, a bonus 2-1/2 inch all purpose blade, blades for scraping soft material and cutting wood, and a sanding head with 5 triangle-shaped sheets each of 40, 60, 80, and 120 grit sandpaper. The sandpaper attaches to the sanding head by hook and loop fasteners. The sanding head is approximately 3/8 inch thick and seems to be made of hard rubber or pliable vinyl. It looks pretty stout, like it will stand up to significant use. The multipurpose blades have depth markings on them which will help guide your cuts if depth is important. For example, I will be using these later in the year to repair a door frame that is beginning to rot. The depth markings will help get the right cut without doing too much damage to the underlying framing. The cutting blades are marked with their purpose on the center "Starlock" hub. I used the larger multipurpose blade to clean up an access hole in drywall. It made a beautiful cut with absolutely no chip-out of the gypsum or tearing of the drywall paper, just a nice clean cut. I used a Rockwell Sonicrafter F80 oscillating tool. The installation wasn’t as slick as with Rockwell brand accessories; you have to completely remove the mounting bolt to install these, but that’s to be expected when mixing brands. I have read that the Starlock mounting system works really well with Bosch oscillating tools but I don’t have personal experience with them. As you would expect from a brand as well known as Bosch, these are great blades. You can get cheaper blades but I suspect you will get what you pay for. I’d love to see a real test comparison of durability and quality of cut between these blades and cheaper ones from another company. I am looking forward to using nearly all these accessories over the next 9 months. I believe they will meet or exceed my expectations. And if you don’t have an oscillating tool, get one! They’re like computers or front-end loaders. Before you have one, you wonder what you would use one for; after you get one, you wonder how you got along without them.

The oscillating multi tools area great tool for the homeowner to make precision cuts that doesn't make a huge mess. I have owned my Bosch for over a decade and it still regularly use it. After using many different brands I have definitely noticed a quality and lifespan that I get from the premium brand blades like the ones from Bosch. This is the perfect set to accompany a new multi tool since it gives you many different blades and an assortment of sandpaper grits. My favorite blade is the circular flush cutting blade. The circular shape makes it easier to start a plunge without jumping and the cutout section still allows you to make tight corner cuts. While you may not need every piece of this set, I have found that I buy the set occasionally when I get the the point where I have several different blades to replace and am running out of sandpaper, but it will depend on how you use your tool, how often it gets used, and the extent of your home workshop that may have other tools that can accomplish a similar job. I have to respond to one comment left that the sandpaper is so expensive, I agree which is why i tend to save these specifically for times when I need to sand into a tight corner like when I'm making a cabinet or box that has 90degree corners that there is no other way to get into (otheriwse, yes it is SOOO much more economical and efficient to use a random orbit sander with the sanding disks to cover large areas).
