The Best Yet!!
I work as a home tutor having been in education for over 30 years. This is, without doubt, the best book for teaching children times tables that I have ever come across!! I have used it for a dyslexic little boy who was becoming very disillusioned with the learning due to his difficulties. This showed itself in a real reluctance to engage. After a couple of pages of this book however, he was more than engaged- he was saying the rhymes with me and laughing at the pictures, it was one of the highlights of my career and the moment I will always treasure.'Buy this book', that is the advice I have given to many of my parents now and without exception, they all found it great fun to use, creating valuable one to one time with their child and of course... producing brilliant results!!

Great way to learn times tables.
Brilliant book. My only bug bear is that it doesn't do all the times tables ... it starts with 3s and only goes up to a certain point because of reversing. So if we have 9 x 3 it won't appear in the book again under the 9 times table as 3 x 9 due to flipping - they've already learned 9 x 3 so it's not there later. I don't think it would have hurt to put the rhyme in again under the 9s somewhere. It's hard to explain because the book is done is such a way, but it is EXCELLENT.

Great under year 5
I've started the book with my daughter three weeks ago and she knows her time tables from 1 to 10. I received the book long time ago but was a bit confused so I let it on side for while. The book helps memorise time tables assuming that the child already knows his 0,1,2 and 10 times tables. After that you need to understand that each table has a kind of rhyme : flying for 3, jumping for 4 etc etc . In total there is 28 rhymes to retain. The book has many quiz to help children memorise the rhymes. My only comment would be that it doesn't cover tables 11 and 12.Unless that the book entertaining and effective.Brilliant idea.

May work for some...but not for all!
Although a great idea and may work fantastically for some...it's no magic solution! The difficulty is trying to use the school method, and this alongside as it can be confusing for some children. It hasn't really been that memorable for my child who has autism. He cannot recall what numbers go with what images so finding it a 'bit busy' I think. I will carry on with it though...I leave it on the table so he can read and look at it as and when now.

Too complicated and non-sensical
Oh, this is terrible. It might work for some, but by and large it's really making everthing more complicated than it needs to be, because the child has to learn the rhyme too; whereas with enough repition, the child could just learn the tables themselves. As adults, we know them so well because they've been ingrained through repetition and while it's true that processing things semantically (giving a story to things) can also aid memory, I just think this method is far too complicted e.g. 'Three 8s fly behind the door' is supposed to help you rmember 3x8=24 or 'Three 9s fly off to heaven 3x9=27'. The child is going to have to remember some quite abstract visual imagery and nonsensical rhymes. And the instructions are so complicated! You might as well just buy a CD and sing, sing, sing the way it used to be done. And combine this with some of the very good exercise books (Carol Vorderman's workbooks are usually great).

Fantastic fun learning
I bought this for my 8yr old son. I convinced him to give it ago. He was not keen. After learning 4 rhymes he realised that it worked. We have had the book a week. He already knows half the rhymes which means he knows half his tables too. Spent 10 mins twice a day. It is now his favourite book and he is determined to learn them all before September.Love the idea of lowest number in the sum decides which rhyme to use because it makes flipping them so easy. 9x3 to 3x9. My son could not grasp the concept before this book.We have drawn guess the picture games to reinforce the pictures, made the rhymes a rap, used the quiz ideas in the book and extended them. FANTASTICThank you so much Stephanie Moraghan and Harry!!!

nice idea
ok flying number 3s, except *they're* not flying, it's the multiples that are flying. the 6s in 3x6, the 8s in 3x8. this just seemed to be arbitrary things to remember. nothing about 3s or its multiples suggests flying. my son struggled trying to remember these.also the way this is written confused my son. the 3s are written 3x3, 3x4, 3x5. you have to decide which is the lowest number to decide if it's a flying, running, jumping, painting, joker, wriggle, or swinging rhyme. 3s are flying rhymes, so you have three 6s flying, but later you have six 6s painting things and five 6s jumping in mud.would have helped if the 3s were the numbers doing the action and the action rhymed with the multiplyer. eg four 3s knock at the door, five 3s go for a dive.seems overly fiddly and requires a change in the way we've been working up until now and the approach at my son's school.not for us.

Amazing for kids struggling to learn their tables
I ordered this book as my daughter, 8 years, was struggling to learn her tables. She is very good at language but seems to be struggling with maths. I was very sceptical when I received this book, I was initially put off but the number of rhymes that had to be learned. However, my daughter, who has been struggling with her six times table at school recently, learned the relevant rhymes in one night and has remembered them each time I have tested her on them. Her work has improved at school and she has really enjoyed learning them. She can't wait to learn the rest! I don't think it will take long to learn the others at all. I would thoroughly recommend this book.

Four Stars
The rhymes and illustrations help if your child is more visually oriented when it comes to retaining information.

Did not work for us
This was silly and the rules for the tables to work way too complicated for my 9 year old to follow. We ended up doing it the old fashion way and memorized the tables in a week.
