It changed MY LIFE!
This fake sunrise, as I have nicknamed it with my friends, is the Birds Worms! I've never been so satisifed with a product. This has made my life and the life of my co-workers so much better! No, I'm not getting paid for this review. It really helps my body wake in a normal cycle. I highly recommend it. I paired it with a white glass globe light from IKEA, FADO, and a 60watt incandescent bulb. It works perfectly for me. I can turn the light off easily with the switch on weekends. My body has adjusted os much by having this that on weekends my body starts waking up without the simulated sunrise now. It feels wonderful to be on a regular sun schedule. I love the simplicity of the product, it was exactly what I had been looking for.

Good value but no flexible scheduling
Good deal for the price but you have to remember to plug it in 8 hours before you want to get up. I have to set an alarm to plug it in at just the right time. Stays set if you always get up at the same time. Cheaper to use your own lamp but you can't use that lamp for anything else while it's set.

What a waste.
This thing did not work as advertised. I followed the instructions closely and it did not turn my light on. Apparently there is no quality assurance at this company. I will have to go through the time, expense, and trouble to return the item. Not really worth my time for the lousy $10 to $15. I will probably just throw it in the trash. What a waste.

simple,works
Worked as indicated, moderatly effective as a wake up tool, changing the time requires remembering to plug it in more than 8 hours before full brightness. Good winter time device.

Worked great. Only challenge was remembering to plug it in at the right time the night before.
I thought I'd save some money by buying the one without a timer. It was too difficult to remember when to plug it in the night before, and so I've stopped using it. I like the concept, and it was a nicer way to wake up, but when daylight saving time hit, I kept forgetting to plug it in the night before. My recommendation: spend the few extra bucks so you can have complete control over the cycle start time.

Winter Delight!
I love this little product! Now I can have sunrise when I need it in the long winter. This hooks up to your own lamp, so it's cheap and easy, and it lets you wake up gradually and feel like it's morning, not the middle of the night. Just plug it in 8 hours before you want to get up, and its set. Nothing tricky to manage. If you don't want it to turn on, just turn your lamp off when you go to bed.

Buying my second
I had my original 205 for 4 or 5 years and it finally gave up on me last week - I think a power surge took it out. I looked at the fancier options as a replacement, but I didn't want colored light or chirping birds, and I certainly didn't want to have to turn it on or off. This does one thing and does it well - increases the light for 30 minutes then remains on for another 30 minutes before shutting itself off. On weekends I just shut off the lamp. Nothing to remember to re-set and no programming necessary.

Non programmable
Make sure you understand that this gadget has no controls or programmable features at all... it's just a tiny box that you plug a lamp into, and the lamp "dawns" 8 hours later. Not quite what I was looking for, but it seems to be just the ticket for many of the reviewers. Given that nearly all other dawn simulators are balky, obscenely over-priced POSs, this product is a great value if it meets your needs...
