Really Cool and NOT Worthless (as Previously Reported)
A genuinely cool and what appears to be a solidly made military-style compass. It has great features that I really love. Sighting the compass is very easy, as is taking a bearing. I like the sighting lens that clearly shows the azimuth, the really cool leveling bubble, and the fluorescent dial and arrow. The carrying pouch is well-made and appears to be waterproof (or at least water-resistant) -- all in all this should have been a great purchase, and would have been except for one thing -- when I checked it against four other compasses,* I found that this compass is off by about ten-degrees, which in my opinion makes it worthless for any sort of serious navigation. *Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 11:14 Update -- 24 May 18 First let me say that my review was an honest appraisal, and it is a truly cool and what appears to be a solidly made military-style compass. I do love the many great features this compass has and it seems to be very easy to use. Quite frankly, I didn't (don't) need another compass, but I actually WANTED TO BUY this compass, as it reminded me of one that I had seen in a book. My initial tests -- which I conducted several times -- led me to the conclusion that their compass was off by about ten-degrees; per the request of the Sportneer Customer Satisfaction Team (in the comments section of this review) I intended to send them an e-mail detailing the problem I had with their compass. However before writing/sending their e-mail, I decided to go out and conduct the same tests that I had conducted earlier to test the accuracy of their compass. This time I came up with different results. Perhaps because this compass makes sighting and reading the azimuth so easy, I am mistaking accuracy for inaccuracy (most compasses are only graduated in two degree increments as opposed to one). Since it now appears that I may be the one in error, I am changing my review appropriately.

GREAT solid compass. None of that cheap plastic feeling.
The compass is very sturdy, solid, seems well made. Comes with instructions also explaining certain stuff. I definitely plan to use this more especially on hikes etc. it seems well calibrated but we shall see on hikes out in the true outdoors.

Quality-made Compass w/convenient features…
Appears to be well-made and of high quality. It includes a simple 6-page user manual, that identifies the features of the compass. REALIZE: This compass has no way to adjust an Angle of Declination, as such it is a setting one has to simply remember in their head whenever orienteering. (Eastern Tennessee: Declination is approximately 2° to 5° East; Central Tennessee: Declination is near 0° to 2° West; Western Tennessee: Declination is approximately 3° to 5° West.) It features a fluorescent bezel, along with a fluorescent North Arrow. Legibility is excellent, as all numbers are sharp and easy to read. The Sighting Eyepiece is crystal clear, making the pivoting azimuth dial easy to read. The built-in Bubble Level is a nice feature, assuring you when the compass is perfectly level for true azimuth readings. It includes a lanyard of sufficient length, to wear it around your neck as required. A nice feature is the front-to-rear lined sight window, allowing prompt usage whenever the compass is closed.

Absolute Hit!
Birthday gift for our grandson! He left for vacation and enjoyed carrying it around as his family hiked during their trip!

Better than expected!
This compass is better than my husband thought. He’s former military and said it’s just like what he had when he was in. Great quality, perfect readability, and all the important features to it. He was impressed for the low price. Get one. You’ll love it.

Well made
A well made product that works very well. It appears that it will last a long time and work well if taken care of.

Great for the money.
Very good Value for the money. Accurate enough for me. Smooth rotation of dial. Measuring ruler in both inches and MM is a plus on a map. As in map and compass. HBB

It’s fine... Not for professional use or survival
You get what you pay for with this one. But honestly I’ve seen few mirrored or sighting compasses in the market for this price so that fact that it exists is great. The casing is very tough and “army” metal ruggedized, but the interior components are pretty bad. The face plate with seconds that sits on top of the azimuth bearing dial came off instantly I guess it’s supposed to be removable? The sighting line was loose and crooked beacuse it wiggles from the get go so it’s “fun” trying to pick a heading other than North lmao. Also does not work in the winter below 24 deg F. Needle gets very sluggish and sticks to East/Northeast. Got bubbles within a year, from summer to Winter. But hey you only paid $9 right? Again, great budget item for an everyday hiker, urban explorer, etc. situation since it will point North most of the time and get you out of the woods. I would not recommend it for preppers or a survival situation cus first change in temp or pressure the sucker will send you the wrong way. If you need it for Survey, Forestry, or other professional work in the woods, look elsewhere.

Nice Features , Lose Bezel
I got this for my stepson for Christmas. He’s moderately interested in survival and bushcraft. I knew he didn’t have one. Looked for one with high reviews and decided on this. It’s heavy and has some really cool features that neither I nor my husband have seen. However, the bezel is super lose. I wonder if you were in a situation where you’d actually need to use it, is this going to be a problem? My husband noticed right away and pointed this out to me. And ya, come to think of it I remember a bezel usually has quite a bit of resistance so that your readings are consistent as you move about. I will do a little research and see if there is a screw I can tighten somewhere and adjust this. For reference, both my husband and I are military. I’m a supporter, and don’t use my topo skills like ever, unless I was on a course or something. My husband on the other hand has 20 years, and though he’s a desk and office guy now, these skills were pretty well hammered in. Bottom line, definitely doesn’t seem cheap, the simple case is a nice touch, and it has loads of nifty things like the viewing feature.

Good value
Heaps of functions, more than we'll ever need but would be good for a serious trekker
