Igniter Doesn't Work At All, Not Commercial Grade, & For Sure NOT 18 Feet of Heat
So, here's the issue. I searched online and compared features of about 10 of these types of products. I could have purchased one for almost half the price from Canadian Tire, about 5 minutes from my house, but out of the all the reviews, most said the igniter doesn't work. This item had mostly good reviews and it claimed to be 18 feet of heat and a commercial version.Well, the igniter doesn't work. The battery is in correctly but there isn't even a clicking noise to tell me its attempting to ignite the burner. So, I'm going to have to take this thing apart and try to find the problem, and if I can't, I will have to do what everyone else does and use a long trigger lighter for candles and BBQ's.No way there is 18 feet diameter heating as it suggests on the ordering page.I do not like the dial on it because there is no clear indication of what is OFF and what is ON. The only clear line is the line of calibration.Looks nice, is a little better quality than some of the local versions, BUT, the extra weight is from putting water in the base, not from better material.Oh yes, in the instructions, it tells you that most of the parts are pre-assembled. NOTHING is PRE-Assembled!!!!!!!!!!In final, the item works but only in a small area where my deck couches and chairs are, but it doesn't reach even 10 feet, where at least it could temporarily keep people a bit warm in the winter when they get out of the hot tub, at least until they did off and put on a robe, which is primarily what this was purchased for.Regards,Glenn

Customer Service / Manufacturer defect from factory
Dear Fire Sense,My wife contacted you about the outside patio heater I purchased and she explained the manufacturer defect on the model, it basically broke in half and damaged my retaining wall. I am glad it did not hit someone in the head! This was a serious call and your customer service wanted nothing to do with it. Basically said we needed to purchase the 2 pieces (tubes) from you. I decided not to purchase these pieces from you as I feel the customer service was bad. It is more important to treat and take care of the customer, Social Media goes a long ways. Thank you.Mike

DO NOT BUY THIS
This item is terribly dangerous. The attachment in the center of the main pole does NOT stay secure. This fell over, while lit, with almost no wind and the merest movement. You cannot even move it or it will split apart. I cannot believe this made it through quality control. Unfortunately I purchased it early in the summer and did not use it until now, past the 90 day Amazon protection so I am dependent on the good will of the company to take this back. Amazon should not list this item. What a fool I was not to listen to the other reviews! the pictures and negative comments are all completely accurate. BEWARE

"The Pandemic May be Over by the Time We Get This Assembled."
We bought this heater to make better use out of our large New England porch, especially as spring makes it possible to sit outside and also, potentially, have some company come for an outdoor dinner. It really wasn't as bad to assemble as the headline suggests, but at the beginning, it looked like it would be. While most of the hardware (screws, etc) come well-marked on a bubble-wrapped cardboard card, for some odd reason, others have to be removed from one of the parts and then reinstalled as you attach other parts in the same place. We made the mistake of removing (with some difficulty) the wrong screws (the three on the top of the base), realizing we had made an error, putting the screws back in place (with some difficulty), identifying the correct screws (for the wheels), struggling a bit to figure out whether the wheels attached on the outside or inside of the base, and also which wheels attached to the left and which to the right -- it makes a difference -- only to discover that the screw we had removed and reinstalled in the top of the base had to come out again so that other parts could be attached there. What a pain. All this unnecessary unscrewing and rescrewing was whar took the most time. Better drawings (as many people have noted) and better directions would really have helped. These were really very simple steps where better pictures/directions would have saved us a lot of time and drustration. Once past our initital mistakes, things went uite smoothly The whole thing took us about 2 1/2 hours (including mistakes). This is definitely better as a two-person job, and one of the two had better be tall. We haven't started the heat lamp up yet so I can't report on that. I will say that, despite our troubles, assembly does't require any special aptitude or skill. If we hadn't messed up on a couple of simple things at the start, it probably would have been under a 2-hour job. We had no issues with bent or missing parts despite a gouge in the outer packaging. Will report back once we fire it up.

Very Nice Heater BUT
It is a nice unit!! Assembly was easy. I rolled it out to the patio fired it up, my wife and I loved it. Since we live in an open area we knew this would blow over with just a little wind. So as I rolled it over the grass to place in the garage the aluminum threaded insert connecting the two pipe stacks together popped out. They were only pressed in with 4 shallow indentations. The aluminum was soft and the indentations of the SS then grooved the aluminum. I debated whether to turn a new metal thread (very time consuming) use JB weld or what I finally did was placed the insert back in and drilled the post at the indentation and inserted SS screws with lock nuts on the inside. This simple fix worked great. However even though I used a low profile screw head the Tank cover hangs up on the screw heads. Okay I have to force it a little over the plastic ring protecting the post from scratching but the price of this unit and the nice heat it puts out I'm pleased. I use a small hand dolly now to roll it around vs relying on the tiny rollers it comes with. If you have nothing but smooth concrete or other smooth surface to move this around you're probably okay, but be aware, that joint connecting the two posts is very weak.
