Klean KanteenClassic Single Wall Stainless Steel Water Bottle with Leak Proof Loop Cap

I just bought one of these to satisfy my need to stay hydrated at my office. Since I tend to get caught up in my work, and don’t like taking the time to refill one of my smaller bottles over and over again, I thought that getting one that holds a half gallon would suit my needs just right. And, boy, does it. I can normally drink 32 ounces in about 3 hours, but I’ve also been known to drink that much in an hour long meeting. This Kleen Kanteen pretty much guarantees that if I go into a meeting with the bottle at least half full, there will still be some left when I get out.I love this bottle because its stainless steel, so no BPA or any other unpalatable chemicals will leech into my water (which is all that I ever put in it). It doesn’t keep the cool water cool or the hot water hot, because it’s not one of those kinds of bottles, but it is good at bringing the water to room temperature, which makes the water go down quicker and easier. There are only two downsides to having a bottle this size. One is the weight of the bottle when it is full, and that weight can make it hard on the wrists and arms. The other downside is just how big around it is. I have a 27 ounce Kleen Kanteen, and it is the same height as the 64 ounce. I guess the manufacturer decided to add girth to their bottles instead of height when making a larger capacity water bottle. But still. I look like a toddler trying to hold a sippy cup with both hands when I take a drink out of this bottle. Neither of these downsides would ever stop me from buying another one, should something happen to this bottle; but others should beware, it can get heavy when full, and nigh impossible to drink one-handed. All in all, the benefits definitely outweigh the two inconsequential cons.

After having used several different types of stainless steel bottles, I have found the one for me!The first I tried was a Coleman model that had a flip up straw. The straw was plastic which is a bit self defeating because the whole purpose of buying a stainless steel water bottle was to avoid plastic. This was just the first one I had ever seen and I figured the plastic in the straw was better than an entire bottle of plastic. It worked well, but was difficult to clean, dented, and had plastic.The second I tried was an inexpensive model bought off here that looks similar to this one but didn't come in any colors. It functions and cleans as easily as this but the problem was that it acquired a smell after a week or two of use, and I haven't been able to get rid of it after a year. I have tried soaking it and scrubbing it and anything else I can think of. The smell would not dissipate. This one also dented.I purchased the Kleen Kanteen, which is fairly mainstream now several years after my original stainless steel bottle purchase. I chose the pink color and love it! The color is vibrant as pictured. The bottle functions very well. I love that you can upgrade the top to a water bottle style or a steel cap of the same shape that originally comes with it. Very smart. They also make baby bottles, toddler sip cups, and kid versions which are perfect for our family!A caveat about stainless steel bottles: they dent. This is just the downside of the bottles. The denting rarely creates a problem with the functionality of the bottle. It is just the price to pay for not having plastic with possibly harmful chemicals, or glass that can shatter. A small price to me.

I have now had my water bottle for over 7 years and still works great. I clean regularly so no issues with mold except now some slight mold to the O-ring on the cap. I removed it and it is a bit of a leak hazard without. New cap not worth it for me but available.

I have had many water bottles before and most of them just get put in the cupboard and never see the light of day again. Either they have a bad aftertaste or are just simply a pain to clean out. This water bottle doesn't have any of those issues and I'm proud to say is starting to show some wear and tear on the outside.I mostly use it for water but occasionally put Gatorade or some other soft drink in it. Removing the residual leftover drink is as simple as running some water through it, no getting out the dish soap and bottle scrubber to make sure everything it gone so your next batch of water doesn't taste like watered down Gatorade.When I do clean this out must of the time I just squirt a little dish soap in with warm water and shake it with the top on then rinse it thoroughly. As that's about all the cleaning I think this thing really needs.I would say if you are fairly active like I am go and spend the 3-5$ on a sports cap to make drinking out of this extremely easy instead of having to unscrew the three turns it takes to remove the original cap.I have owned mine for about 9 months now and use it daily it has some dents from where I have dropped it an light scratches around the outside now but nothing very noticeable from the brushed stainless.I love my klean canteen and have purchased my wife one and have another on the way.
