Great sound, quality product!
I hooked everything up before installation. I wanted to hear what it would sound like before I cut into my ukulele. I was pleased with the sound! The installation took a little bit of time, but if you take it slow, it is well worth it. For $15, I turned my ukulele into an electric ukulele! I would buy it again.

Works great!
Tuner is very stable and accurate. Tuners are often bad with bass. This one is very good on my uke bass.Sound is clear. EQ sounds good and has good frequency settings.Quality item.

Poor quality control?
I ordered two of these because the first one didn’t work. Tried using different batteries, different cables from the amp but nothing worked. The unit won’t turn on or off using the volume button, nor will the pickup produce any sound when hooked up to an amp. I’m tempted to buy a third unit but it seems unlikely that will fix the problem. Maybe I just got unlucky with two bad units? Maybe not

Works OK, but no ON/OFF switch, no instructions, sketchy quality
(Updated April,2023. Changes are indicated by *)This little preamp works well for the money, but there seems to be little quality control. The one I ordered came without the battery holder. Amazon facilitated the exchange with no problem, but it’s still inconvenient. The replacement arrived and once I figured out how to orient the batteries (I had to go to the Amazon listing for the product to find what battery it takes) I discovered the LED didn’t illuminate, but the amp and piezo pickup worked. I’d have to exchange it (again), before I can sell this ukulele, so this inexpensive item is standing in the way of several hundred dollars for my work. *I have used a few more, and none of the LEDs illuminated, so I’m guessing they light when the batteries are low.The two external components are contoured to fit a traditional ukulele body. I used it on a cigar box, but the mismatch is slight. When cutting the holes to mount the components, you have to make it a close fit and make the corners chamfered (for the main unit) or rounded (for the jack) so the mounting screws hit wood instead of air. The thin back cover on the main component had to be trimmed to fit through the hole without damage. The tuner worked well and has a nice display. When using the tuner, output to your amp is off, so your audience doesn’t have to hear you tune. * The tuner is not ukulele specific, it’s chromatic so you can use this on any instrument you want.A few gripes:1. There is no OFF/ON switch. I’m guessing that you have to remove the batteries to keep them from discharging. The fact that I’m guessing leads to #2…2. There are no instructions. It might just be that with the volume turned to zero, there’s no battery drain, but who knows? * I saw a comment that suggested that the unit is only on when a plug is inserted into the jack. Might be true…3. There are no markings on the battery holder to indicate the battery type, number and orientation. * Stack the two CR232 batteries in series, orient the + side toward the output jack.4. The material isn’t very robust looking. I’m afraid of breaking it when I remove the battery holder.

Works fine.
The previous one went out after two years of use, so we replaced it with the exact same one.

Excellent at a low price.
This style of pickup is what I buy for my ukuleles. I have installed maybe 6 of them. They get easier to installing the more you do it. I don't enjoy the process but once it's done I am very happy.

Could be a sound saver...
I recently bought a Kala U Bass, and this little gizmo looks just like the system fitted to it. Since that sounds pretty decent, I thought I'd try this on a piezo pickup bass I have that sounds horrible. The bass I bought from Amazon, and when the bridge actually broke off, rather than have me send the broken bass back for a refund - they just sent another one! I learned my lesson and replace the 2 little screws in the bridge with 2, much larger ones. That fixed the bridge coming off, but it still sounded horrible. So I saw this, and decided to try it on the original one (which I fixed). The improvement in the sound was very noticeable -- so now all I have to do is figure out how to mount the silly thing. And what I'm going to do with the ukulele sized piezo pickup that came with it...

Why does this NOT have ANY instructions????No template, no operating instructions, not even which way you install the batteries!!! This is BEYOND bad sales!
