Short story: Hands-down, this is not only the perfect metal dryer vent, it is the only metal dryer vent you should consider. Long story: To meet wildland-urban interface requirements for certification of our home for fire safety, we were required to replace our plastic dryer vent. After extensive onsite and online research, I found that metal vents fall into three categories: 1. Cheap junk from China sold at all the big-box stores and online, 2. Knock-off copies of this Inovate vent that just don’t quite get it right, and 3. This vent. Here are the important points: 1. Unlike all the other vents with a flap, this vent flap is angled slightly outward towards the bottom, so it always closes. 2. The magnets are just right to keep the vent closed, but open easily with normal dryer output. 3. The measurements are exact, and the collar fits tightly into a standard 4-inch duct (our size). 4. The construction and finish are both robust (probably more than is necessary) and flawless. 5. At $42, it really is only a few dollars more than all the worthless competition. You will not regret purchasing this vent cover.

ITS EXPENSIVE!! I Don't care, I love it. As an engineer, I promise you can't by the materials cheaper and make it yourself better for cheaper. I hope they make money on this, because the alternative is a nightmare. I bought 3 and may get 2 more. My old school dryer vent did not open and clogged big time. Even though old vent barely opens, it does not close due to awful design, so I got bugs in the house. I tried to clean and you can't open to get your cleaner in. This thing opens all the way, so you can clear most with a vacuum and send down the cheap amazon drill brush when more is needed. I also used this on two exhaust fans with short straight hard pipe runs. WARNING: The door may not open for weak fans or long run pipes, read the setup recommendations. For a dryer it is great. Why make your expensive dryer work badly? Just keep your pipes clean and your vent. Use a 4-1/8 or 1/4 hole drill bit (carbide for Hardie board). I used a recommended 4" drill per online duct install info and regretted it . Would barely seat home with a bit of duct tape. My old vent had nice straight pipe that I pried off and stole. Much easier to attach pipe to vent and clamp inside if you have access. Be smart and hot glue or tack in some backing wood while your hole is open. In my case I could not reach the interior wall from my ceiling access and had to hope my screws held in the Hardie board alone as I already terminated my ducts before buying my fiber board screws.

Great sturdy replacement for our broken dryer vent. It is a bit pricier than most vents, but it's totally worth it. Using magnets to secure the damper when not in use is genius! There weren't, however, any clear installation instructions included, nor hardware/screws to attach it. I had to look up several videos of how to install one like this.

Replaced the standard white plastic dryer vent cover with this and it looks so nice. Easy to install.

All steel and USA made. You get what you pay for. The magnets are perfectly balanced to close when not needed, but open when a dryer or bathroom fan needs to exhaust. Plus, if I ever hate the colour, I can repaint it.

Considering the amount of money this dryer vent costs. Showing up bent for whatever reason is completely unacceptable.
