Merrell Men's Traveler Rove Slip-On Shoe

This is my first shoe in the 'traveler' line. The 'traveler' and the 'Realm' shoes seem to be replacing the old 'World' line. I've had a few different variations of the World line and they were about the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I was hoping these would match that, but they don't. They're not bad, but my feet get a little achy by the end of the day. The problem is the insoles. The older shoes had a thinner white insole that molded to my foot over time. These have this thick, stiff orange insole. I've had them about 6 months now and they still haven't really molded to my foot. Thankfully there are no uncomfortable spots for me but this could be a problem for someone else. On the plus side, I think they look better than the 'world' shoes, I never liked the odd asymmetrical toe on those.The really bad thing about these though is the smell. I'd read about others having this issue. From day one they had this chemical, gasoline type smell. I had to keep them outside for a week. They're better now but still after wearing them for an hour or so the smell kind of reactivates as my feet warm them up. Its much more faint but I can still smell it. To add to this, they don't breathe well. The smell thing may be kind of hot or miss. I have the café brown. I've seen the other brown in a store and it didn't smell like these.Another good thing, I have not had any squeaking like others have noted.

I really like the shoes and Merrell shoes in general. I have several pairs of different styles. However these had the worst squeak I've ever seen in a pair of shoes. They made the shoes un-wearable. Enough that I should give it a zero star. The cause is the sold foam insole isn't bonded in any way to the main body of the shoe. And so it rubs against the shoe as you walk creating a loud SQUEEK, SQUEEK. However I took the insoles out of the shoes. spread Goop glue (clear silicone sold in a tube as glue) all over the bottom of the insole and inserted them back inside the shoes. I put the shoes on and walked around for a minute so that the Goop made good contact and let them sit over night. The squeak is gone for now and hopefully in the long run. Silicone makes a great glue. It sticks to almost anything (except for itself) and is flexible. Should be the perfect solution for eliminating the squeak. Hopefully the Merrell folks will read this and change the design and manufacturing of the shoe so that people don't need to complete at home what should have been done at the manufacturing plant. I really like these shoes. Very comfortable.I tested them walking through Lowe's just browsing for a good hour and a bargin. Normally at the end of an hour my feet and legs would be tired and beginning to hurt from walking on the concrete floor. Not this time. The shoes are well cushioned and absorbed a lot of the shock.I bought my size and they do fit nicely but they feel a bit wide even though I ordered my size. Not a deterrent from buying another pair.What could be a deterrent is the smell. It smells like rubber tires for a vehicle. I hope it goes away.Other reviews had stated that the shoe squeaks. Merrell must have fixed the problem or I go a pair that doesn't.Honestly these have become my go to casual shoe. They feel good!

Love these shoes, they fit great from moment one. I ordered them just prior to a vacation where we were going to do substantial walking. Also in expectation of several runs through airport security, so I needed an easy slip on, slip off shoe. They are absolutely worth the money, as they are very comfortable, easy to slip on and off and yet stay on the foot when walking or hiking. I have a wide foot and was concerned about not having time to "break in". Regardless, I experienced no rubbing, blisters or any issues. Would definitely buy again, or buy another pair in a different color.

I bought these shoes in February 2018 (6.5 months). I like Merrell shoes. They have been my go-to brand, but this shoe model was disappointing. (1) left shoe, inside, broke down rather quickly in 3 months (see pictures). As picture notes, the left inside broke down because of the wear of the insert against shoe wall, then inner backing began to crumble (a hard white substance). The consequence was always chips of backing made it feel like I had pieces of sand or rocks constantly in my shoes due to the backing flaking off and remaining inside shoe. I might buy Merrell shoes again (the MOC style), but beware of this "Traveler Rove Slip On" model because it has design and material flaws. It's not because I wear the shoes with bare feet because I always wear socks. The right shoe for some reason didn't wear out as badly, but fabric still wore out the same.

I've been a fan of Merrells for years, but product quality is continuing to slip. The past several pairs of merrell oxfords that I've had have had their soles wear surprisingly quickly. I bought this pair on sale. I typically wear a size 13, but sized down to size 12, due to the loafer design (previous merrell loafers I had in size 12 fit well). This pair is easily a half size too large, and fits very loose except in the width of the toe box.There is zero arch supportThe sole sqweeked on hard floors for the first week before the minor bumps were off.The color scheme is also rather odd, and I find it hard to match with anything other than jeans.The one saving grace is that the sole does appear durable... but the other factors that make me dislike the shoe make me hope I'm wrong and that they wear out sooner rather than later!

I like Merrill’s. They are the only brand I buy. These, however, had a “blow out” of some sort after only two weeks. The left shoe, while appearing normal, now has zero support and isn’t floppy and does not fit.Customer support works bankers hours... I haven’t had a chance to take time from my day to call and seek a remedy. I hope they make it right.

Bought as a gift. Arrived in nice package and fit perfect. Description was exactly as indicated. Great product. First time buying shoes from Amazon.ca, but definitely will do it again.
