Fits very well
A very nice addition for the protection of the Lenovo Miix 700. There's not a lot to choose from in custom protective cases besides Gumdrop. I chose this over Gumdrop because it seems too bulky. The Extreme Shell is very svelte while adding some protection against rough handling and maybe some minor drops. I definitely feel safer holding the tablet, especially in clients offices and warehouses. It fits extremely well with professionally done cutouts for all ports. However, for the headphone jack, an L shaped plug will most likely not fit because of the depth of the corner bumper. The power and volume buttons are also well done. The tablet looks great in it without making it look like a child's bumper, which is how I thought the Gumdrop appeared. It comes with very little packaging, in a large ziploc bag, which is a great way to keep costs down, and save the environment. However, it did not come with instructions, and just like with my phone and Android tablet silicone cases, I tried to maneuver it in thinking that the sides would give way and it would fall into place. That is not the case. There is a metal bar on the bottom with 2 screws. There is a screwdriver included, with 2 extra screws. I realized that I must remove the bar, insert the tablet and screw it back together. But, there should have been instructions indicating so. Maybe a little card in the screwdriver bag.I am a fan of not having the kickstand covered. For me, that is also a reason I thought the Gumdrop looked too bulky. Plus, there is a good amount of heat that is generated underneath the kickstand. This is not that big of a deal when the kickstand is opened. However, I use it with the kickstand closed a lot and prefer the heat be dissipated through the metal kickstand, instead of held in by a cover. Remember, this tablet is fanless so you want to dissipate as much heat as possible as it was engineered to.There is a well intentioned slot on the back to hold the stylus. For me, I would have preferred it not be there. First, you cannot lay the tablet flat with or without the stylus in there. Second, it doesn't hold the stylus that well. I could definitely see losing the stylus due to its lack of hold on it. I will most likely be taking a razor blade and trimming it off so that the tablet will lay flat.I almost did not purchase the Extreme Shell based on its photo. It looks a bit of a moss/army green color, but the description said it was black. Due to my necessity of some type of protection in the field, I decided to give it a shot, and if I didn't like it, use Amazon's Return Policy. Happily, it is black. The only cons I came across are some quality control issues. First, the flap on the top that holds the keyboard in place has a large scuff mark on it. Second, the translucent part on the back has 2 gashes/scrapes in it. And third, the bottom right corner bumper has a molding mistake that left a raised, shiny area that is non-existent on the left. However, none of these affect the usability of the product. Just a little disappointing.Overall happy with the product as it meets my need to have some type of protection in the field, and most importantly, gives better hold-ability and grip-ability to the tablet without giving it an unprofessional look.

One almost perfect and solid case for the Miix 700
I had to decide between the Gumdrop and Max Case and I liked more this one because it seemed slimmer. The only thing I was unsure was the militarily green color advertised in the photos, but I found out black option was available and so I ordered it and thankfully received in black color (which matches the keyboard color). When receiving it it arrived in a transparent plastic bag, no logo, or brand information, and it arrived including a screwdriver and 2 extra bolts but no instructions (2 bolts are needed to hold the metallic and plastic pieces). The only issue for installing was that the bolts were too tightened, and the screwdriver was useless (the size didn't seem to fit the bolt), but after using one of my screwdrivers I was able to remove the metallic bottom part. To install you have to slide the tablet from the bottom to top, and in order to avoid any scratches in this process, I inserted a sheet of paper between the two.The case almost makes the tablet fully functional, you can insert the keyboard and it continues to detect whenever the cover is closed, but I'm no longer able to put the keyboard at angle (only flat), as the big magnet is a couple of mm larger than the border of the case. The clip a the top to secure the keyboard is made out of plastic and it has a click-stop before hitting the screen, so is safe to assume that it will not scratch the screen when the keyboard is not attached, on the other hand it's possible to open the case keyboard without releasing the clip, so I wonder if it had any reason to be included. The pen holder is also carved inside the case which is nice, so half of the pen rests inside the case, however it has a small play. In my case I didn't had problems with the headphone jack and the QC25 angled connector.

Great once it's safely on the device
I was really nervous about getting this case after reading the other reviews but it seemed like a better option than the gumdrop case so I went for it. I didn't put it together so I can't speak to that part of it, but I will say that I tried myself first and decided I didn't want to strip or otherwise destroy the screws. But once it's on, I can say I like it a lot. It is bulky but I bought it for protection since I've not been completely happy with the build quality on the Miix 700. The keyboard cover works fine both flat and raised and the buttons all work as expected. I wish the pen holder was a little more secure as I've "lost" the pen in a bag more than once and didn't discover it until the bag wasn't handy. Now I double-check to make sure the pen is attached before I dash off to a meeting. I also don't have any problems with the latch that keeps the keyboard cover closed and in fact I'm really glad to have that feature. I was also happy to discover that if I open the stand all the way I can attach the keyboard cover like a base which makes it easy to use walking around. It's a keeper for me; I'm pretty happy with it and hope to never have to take it off. :-)
