Works very well! The water heats up very quickly and appears to cool off quickly after use. On the dress with heavy fabric, I had to refill the chamber twice to complete the job. (The dress was very wrinkled!) The sweater had thinner fabric and the steam released wrinkles quickly. I would say that one full chamber could handle 1-3 garments, depending on the fabric. This steamer is light-weight and portable; it would be excellent for someone who travels. On the box it says it works well with tap water, however on the inside it recommends distilled to keep the product working properly. I used tap water this time.

After running for a few minutes the heating mechanism powers down and the machine stops producing steam. I have to turn the machine off using the power switch, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. It works for another minute for two then repeats the process. In order to steam a garment I'm continually turning the unit off and on, and waiting for it to resume steam. This product is a total disappointment.

UPDATE: The company contacted me regarding a replacement due to a known production issue. They sent a new one one very quickly and it works much better! It actually steams and does NOT shoot boiling water across the room. That's pretty good customer service to not wait for me to contact them, but for them to contact me in response to my review on Amazon. Stars upgraded from 1 to 4 (to account for initial product quality control).ORIGINAL REVIEW: Works great as a boiling water fountain, but works horribly as a clothes steamer. It takes a minute to get the water boiling and then it promptly jets the boiling water out, shooting it 2-3 feet across the bathroom. Yes, we've made sure not to fill it past the "max" water line. We've tried it at varying water levels, always with the same result...boiling water cannon. It's utterly useless.

I've had this steamer for about three months now. It worked fine at first, but now can't run longer than twenty minutes without spitting water everywhere. I've soaked the inside in vinegar, orange essential oil, and even taken a scrubber to it, but no luck. It will also stop steaming at random intervals for no apparent reason.If you do decide to purchase this, make sure to use distilled water only. Once the scale builds up, there's no getting it to work properly.

So I just got this in the mail and immediately I put it to the test. I bought it because it was cheap and small and I needed something portable that I can take with me for my upcoming trip. After 10 seconds me using it the water started to come out from it. I filled it up just a tad bit more than max but I realized any sudden movements made the water will spill. As you can see in the picture that's how much water spilled. After it went down half way the water stopped spilling and it became easier to maneuver. I can't complain much because I am getting what I paid for but aside from that it did it's job.FYI: that shirt was on the floor, that's not the shirt I was testing the steamer on. :)

The Steam Genie works great! I have only used it to get the wrinkles out of my curtains but it worked like a charm! So much easier than using an iron, like I usually do. In the past, when I would iron these particular curtains, the iron would always leave an imprint of the ironing board even when I would put a towel under the curtain. So frustrating! This is so much easier! It's very compact so it should be easy to travel with, too. I look forward to trying it out on my clothes.

I was disappointed with this product given the high number of reviews. After filling it with deionized water and letting it heat up, the amount of steam produced was negligible. The product doesn't have a "trigger" to store and then release the steam, it just trickles out. It had not effect on even slightly wrinkled cotton, and would be useless for thicker clothing like wool suits, which is what I bought it for.

I travel quite frequently and have used a number of different travel steamers. This one is fantastic. It heats up quickly and does a fantastic job of getting wrinkles out. I can usually steam a shirt, pants and sport coat without having to refill it. But, because it heats up so quickly you don't waste much time if you have to refill it. The on/off switch and the VERY long cord make this easy to use in most hotel rooms.
