I think the hardware will be OK outdoors. You could always seal it with spray sealer. More importantly, if you are trying to prevent theft, remember these hangers are designed as a deterrant only. What are you hanging?

Q: Instructions are horrible and I can't figure out how to attach the plates to my wooden picture frame. It just says "attach screw". Ok hammer my frame?

The 3 brackets (each with 2 holes) get attached at the top towards the edge of the frame and one at bottom center.Depending on frame width, material thickness and size/weight of frames, the screws are usually positioned in the middle of the frame width to avoid wood cracking. It is also sometimes a good idea to predrill holes.The 2 wall brackets are positioned to match frame brackets at tops and T Screw to match bracket at bottom center of frame.
